The Winery is at the end of a big old Gersoise farmhouse, so not really a barn, but was the old winery and granary. Converted to a high de-luxe standard using as many authentic products from the old farm, the old wine press is still in situe & wine barrels are incorporated into the kitchen area, even the ceiling lights are made from the barrel hoops. Owners live in farmhouse so on site for any queries. The décor is rustic chic downstairs and very comfortable upstairs with many attractive paintings, antique furniture and objet's d'art. The Winery is suitable for off season bookings, with a cosy pellet burner and we accept long weekends out of season . During the summer months we can only accept bookings Sat-Sat. downstairs there is a very cosy pellet burner, and all rooms upstairs have modern electric radiators. Basic shop offered for first night and if desired a cooked meal can be brought to the winery for tired guests and other meals by arrangement. There is a huge big living area with sofas (3) , armchairs, a long dining table with the kitchen corner. Beautiful old armoire houses all kitchen equipment plus essential cooking ingredients. Well equipped. Masses of space for adults and children. We have a cupboard full of old board games and other traditional games, lego, toys for younger children. Films for every age range plus French TV .There is also a sofa-bed. We often receive multi generational families! Upstairs the light Courtyard Bedroom has a double bed and private bathroom, The Louis Philippe Bedroom has a double bed and private shower room with big walk in shower, and a twin bedded room (separate access to shower room from a door in corridor). There is a private sitting/eating area in beside the vines with a BBQ , plus a sitting area with in front of the horses' paddock with lovely views, as well as the terrace around the pool. For guest's who love cooking there is a herb bed for their use. Bedrooms have been furnished with taste and antiques, many quirky bits have come from a local chateau such as hand painted architraves over the doors & old washstand with fun fossil washbasin. Good quality bed linen and towels. Pool towels also supplied. The pool is in a private area with fabulous views over the rolling Gersoise countryside. It is totally peaceful, apart from the odd tractor! the sunset is amazing. Table tennis, boule, trampoline. Pool is shared with owners ( who swim sometimes in early evening) & the occasional house guest at the main house. Footpath passing the house leads up the hill where there are 360 degree views. WE do get the odd walker passing in front of the Winery. Totally peaceful, good for walking, biking, painting.. Owners dogs (2 very friendly Spaniel dog and Labrador) , cats (2) and horses (3) plus free range chickens live with the family at la Raillere. Please note there is a pond in front of the property, therefore our guests are responsable for the safety of their children both with the pond and the pool.
