Description
Private room in a two bed, one bath apartment that you would be sharing with me. It’s an old quirky building on the Dominican side of Williamsburg and a short walk to the razzle dazzle. It’s two subway stops to Manhattan or Bushwick (also walkable if you’re energetic). I try to be home when guests arrive so I can help brings bags up the stairs, we’ll do our best to coordinate. The room is available for more than a month if needed, send me a message. The space Pre-war building with classic NY clanging heat pipes in winter amongst other imperfections. It's a walk-up and the apt is 4th floor (American) 3rd floor (everyone else). The location is very convenient and the kitchen is huge by local standards. The bedroom is 8' x 13' with a full/double bed, open closet, armoire, and desk. "The most common part of Queens" in Coming to America (1988) is actually my street... make of that what you will. Guest access The kitchen is huge by New York standards with a full range of cooking equipment which you are welcome to use and proper dining table. There will also be space provided in the fridge and pantry for groceries. The living room is also quite spacious with a tv and extensive collection of books on African textiles, art, fashion, and a bunch of weird stuff . During your stay This apartment is my home (I've been here for 10 years) so I will be living here with you and my very friendly cat. I run a restaurant in Brooklyn and work some pretty crazy hours but I'm happy to help you out however I can. If you are looking for suggestions on international restaurants and grocery stores you will definitely be talking to the right person :) I love meeting people from other cultures (I'm Australian) and hope that we can chat over a glass of wine or espresso while you are here. Other things to note There is no laundry in the building but there is a laundromat just down the street where you can either wash your clothes yourself for around $5 or you can drop them off and the laundromat will wash and fold them for you. There are also online services that will pick up your laundry from the apartment and deliver it back to you. Like most old buildings in New York the landlord controls the heating in winter and we are unable to adjust it ourselves. The bedroom can get quite warm so some people need to open the window or turn on the fan at night.
