Vlei House

A large, comfortable, self - catering holiday house. Walking distance to both the Wetland Reserve and Wakkerstroom Village. Tranquil, with a very large garden that leads onto the 'vlei'. It is perfectly located within Wakkerstroom. We deliberately do not have wifi or television so as to enjoy the 'digital detox' that Wakkerstroom offers. There is erratic mobile network coverage in Wakkerstroom and at Vlei House. There are TVs at the hotel and some pubs, in need. The space The four bedrooms, two bathrooms as well as double fridges, dishwasher and washing machine - make this a perfect choice for large groups and, in particular for families. The house is decorated as a comfortable family home, if you are looking for 'new and modern', this house is not for you. The property is fenced but does not have a secure fence around it to keep dogs in, it is partially secure but dogs that are prone to running away will find a way out. You are welcome to bring your children and infants but no cots are provided. Dogs are allowed, with permission only, and not on the furniture. You will need to bring their bed/s and water bowls. Tick prevention is recommended as there have been reported cases of bilary in the area. Guest access The whole house and one acre garden, that leads onto the wetland, will be available for your exclusive use throughout your stay. Since this is a self catering house, you will need to bring your own food and toiletries and don't forget to bring charcoal and firelighters if you would like to use the weber braai that is provided. Insect repellent is also a good idea, as a precaution, especially for mosquitoes in the summer months. Other things to note Bring your bikes, walking shoes, something warm to wear and a good book to read. This is an authentic country village with rural infrastructure, just like in other parts of South Africa, you may experience power and water outages which are beyond our control. The house is old and the electricity can get overloaded if too many appliances are used at the same time. This is part of the county life experience and you need to be aware of this before booking.
