Bakki Apt - New modern 1-bedroom seaside apartment

Guest apartment with all-new construction, bright and modern Scandinavian design. The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom with rain shower, bedroom with large double bed (180x200cm) or two single beds upon request. In the living area is a dining area for 4 and a sofa, which is easily changed to a double bed (140x200cm). Just steps from the sea and the seaside path running the length of the old fishing village of Eyrarbakki. The space This listing is for one of 4 similar one-bedroom apartments that are side by side in the same building. They vary a bit in terms of color scheme and artwork, but the floor plan and furnishings are the same. The apartments were purpose-built as guest apartments from 2016-2017. The building was constructed long before that, in 1944, and until the conversion began, this space was just one big hall, part of a fish factory. The family bought it in 2014 and started dividing the space into individual apartments. Today there are 16 apartments in total, with 8 in a row on the same side of the building and others in different parts of the building. Each has its own entrance, and we try to make it a comfortable and cozy space so you will feel at home during your stay. In another part of the building is a hostel, Bakki Hostel, and there you will find a reception that is staffed during the day and into the evening, though they might not always be at the front desk. They can help you with laundry, exchange linens or towels, or answer questions you have. Guest access You can park just outside the apartment. It’s a short drive or less than 10 minute walk to anywhere in Eyrarbakki, or a drive of about 10 minutes up to Selfoss or the ring road. Other things to note If you need to do laundry, let us know. For a small fee, we can wash and dry it for you. Be prepared that this is a small town and things close early and open late, so make sure you have what you need for the next day's breakfast before it gets late. Samkaup in Selfoss is open 7:00 a.m. until 23:00, and there's a bakery in Selfoss that opens at 8:00 a.m. If you get stuck, let us know. If you are lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights, the best place to see & photograph them is from the beach at the west end of town (drive past the Rauða Húsið restaurant and down to the end of the paved road, then keep driving on the dirt track until you find the place you want to stop).
