Wake to stunning mountain views from bed at Gentle Presence Cottages! This Cottage offers self-catering for 6 and has been lovingly decorated using a mixture of antiques and modern furnishings to make guests feel right at home. Built in the 1900’s as stables, this Cottage is one of the oldest buildings in Clarens and it's thought that farmers would arrive by ox-wagon before sharing Nagmaal (Holy Communion). There are 2 Cottages on the premises, set apart and with own entrances for privacy. The space The patio has breathtaking garden and mountain views with a dining table and chairs, making it perfect to enjoy outdoor meals or play board games. There is a braai and firepit and garden where children are welcome to play. Parking is behind locked gates and you have a private entrance. The Queen size sleeper couch sleeps 2 in the open plan living/dining area. A SmartTV and free WIFI (No DSTV - Stream using your own details). The open plan dining/living area leads to a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove with oven, and microwave. There is a guest toilet on this level Quirky stairs lead upstairs to the 2 bedrooms with queen beds and shared balcony. Views are stunning from both rooms, even from bed. Heaters, fans, electric blankets, throws, extra blankets, towels, and a hairdryer are provided. Cottage 2 which sleeps 2 guests, is situated in bottom of the garden, and is set apart and with another entrance. Guests share the large garden but each have their own braai and firepit areas. Guest can also book both Cottages allowing for a group of 8. Gentle Presence is thought to have been the stables of a larger farm where farmers gathered for Nagmaal (Holy Communion) before being sub-divided and sold off to the previous owners. It has only had 3 owners including the current owners and has been declared a heritage site and has a charming history which we would love to share with you. Guest access Guests will have exclusive use of the cottage during their stay and are welcome to use the large garden and firepit. Other things to note Daily cleaning can be arranged at an additional cost. General Please take note this is a historical home and the stairs are not recommended for infants/children under 8, or those who find stairs a challenge. Best suited to good friends or younger families. Old wood throughout so expect creaking stairs. There is a queen size sleeper couch in the lounge that can accommodate 2 guests. There is a toilet and basin downstairs but no bath/shower. The two upstairs bathrooms have shower over bath combination. Bedding for the sleeper couch only provided if booking exceeds 4 persons or on request at an additional cost. No events or loud music after 10:30pm. Bicycles are welcome but indoor space is limited. Regret no pets allowed.
