I retired from a 34 year career in mental health nursing and am now living my dream of having a bit of land, being owned by dogs and chickens and growing my own veg. It’s an amazing escape from the bustle of the outside world. Here you can relax in the garden, reconnect with nature, listen to the abundance of bird songs and recharge your batteries. I look forward to seeing you soon The space Welcome to our tranquil retreat in South Leverton, perfectly situated near Retford in the heart of Nottinghamshire. There is a quaint pub in the village which is cash only. April to September it hosts a bike night every 2nd and 4th Wednesday evening. In the neighbouring village of North Leverton, walkable, there is a convenience store/post office and a further pub (does food and accepts cards). Our home is your ideal base for exploring the region’s finest attractions: let the little ones delight in Sundown Adventureland, wander the historic ruins and lakes of Rufford Abbey and Welbeck Abbey, or enjoy the expansive 1,000-acre grounds of Thoresby Park. Nature lovers can explore the ancient woodlands of Clumber Park (National Trust) and the watersports haven of Idle Valley Nature Reserve. Beyond the immediate area, the historic city of Lincoln is just a 25-minute drive away, while the stunning scenery of the Derbyshire Dales (including Bakewell and Chatsworth House) is under an hour’s drive. Yorkshire wildlife park is half an hour away. For a classic seaside day, the sandy beaches of the Lincolnshire coast are approximately one hour away. In the evenings, escape the city glow. Our rural location offers significantly less light pollution, providing a fantastic opportunity to gaze at the stars and enjoy the peaceful night sky right from the property. Whether you’re seeking family fun, heritage walks, coastal breezes, or quiet stargazing, our home offers the perfect setting for your getaway. Set in 2.5 acres of land I’ve aimed to make my home a peaceful, calming space, with entertainment from animals along the way. You are welcome to share all parts of the garden that has various seating areas dotted around. You will meet my chickens who are real characters. If you want to feed them they love sunflower seeds and will come running if they are called for food! They are so cute. My 3 dogs are always very welcoming and love cuddles but can be kept away as I appreciate they can be a bit overwhelming to some. I have given space in my shed to 3 neutered feral cats who help keep vermin away. 1 is really friendly with me now, another is curious and ok with my presence and the other doesn’t want to be anywhere near me and that’s all ok. I’m not sure you will see them as they are generally scared of people. The room is spacious with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. I’ve provided a kettle and coffee/teas/ hot chocolate in the room so you can have a cuppa anytime. You are also welcome to use the kitchen during your stay. The house has an electric gate to the front and a further wooden gate accessing the rear where the parking area is, so your vehicle will be securely tucked away in the back garden area. I’ll be around most days to help out as needed. I’m happy to spend time with you if you fancy a chat but will generally leave you to enjoy the space. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask Whilst I don’t have broadband here I do have a spare phone with endless data which is available to hotspot from. In 4 years I haven’t missed traditional WiFi and have had no issues with using the hotspot for tv, phone and computer.
