Tichborne hideaway with private garden
Description
Charming countryside retreat in the South Downs The space Large, comfortable room in a charming 18th-century home, with your own private en-suite bathroom. You’ll have a separate entrance and private garden, giving you a bit of extra privacy and flexibility during your stay. We’re in the South Downs National Park, with easy access to plenty of local walks and very close to the South Downs Way. The village pub - the Tichborne Arms is excellent, with real ale and great food and it's only a 5-minute walk away. Another walk across the fields takes you to the Flower Pots in Cheriton, a traditional, multi-award-winning country pub and on-site brewery. Tichborne is a picturesque village set along the River Itchen between Cheriton and Winchester, with a history dating back to lands granted by Saxon kings. Its historic church, St Andrew’s Church, Tichborne, is uniquely both Church of England and Roman Catholic - one of only a handful in England. It’s a 5-minute drive or a walk across the fields to the pretty town of Alresford, full of independent shops, cafés, pubs, and home to the Watercress Line steam railway. The historic city of Winchester is just 15 minutes away by car. We can provide a travel cot, please let us know if you need this. We can also make up a sofa bed for a child with advance arrangement for a small extra cost. Please message to enquire. Guest access You will have your own small private garden, accessible through the main garden. The guest room is part of the house where we live. You will have a lock on the inside and outside doors and a separate entrance through your garden. You may meet me or my partner when you are coming and going via the garden entrance, or our dog. Don't worry – we are friendly! During your stay If you need anything at all during your stay, please let us know. Other things to note Rural location. Free parking is on the road. Access from the road to the house involves 3 steps then a 20 meter walk along a narrow, uneven grassed path. There may be ponies in the paddock beside the path. We have a friendly young dog who may come say hello in the garden when you arrive. There is no public transport to the village. The nearest bus stop is 1 mile for buses to Winchester, Alresford or Alton. Nearest train stations are Winchester or Alton.
