Gorgeous gem on the Iron Curtain Trail
Gorgeous gem on the Iron Curtain Trail
Description
This lovely little apartment is part of a beautiful house in charming Hohenau, situated right on the famous Iron Curtain Trail—making it the ideal spot to recharge during your cycling tour or to explore nearby, vibrant Vienna while still enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside in the evening. Pleasantly cool in summer and cozy and warm in winter—thanks to its own wood-burning stove—you can also enjoy the evenings with a cold drink on the shared terrace. The space You enter the house through a shared entrance. From the hallway, your apartment is to the left, while I—your host—live on the right. Your apartment includes a private bathroom with a shower and toilet, a fully equipped kitchen, a fold-down dining table, and a combined sleeping/living area. This area features a dresser and sleeping arrangements for three people: a double airbed (very comfortable!) and a single mattress on a slatted base. The apartment stays pleasantly cool in the summer, and the window is fitted with a screen, so you can sleep comfortably with the window open at night. Glass doors open directly onto a lovely terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee or unwind in the evening. The laundry room—equipped with a washing machine and dryer—is accessible from the terrace; detergent is provided. The terrace is a shared space. The workshop is located next to the laundry room; above it, there is additional simple sleeping space for two more people if needed (a double bed with a 1.40m-wide mattress, an outdoor hatch, and a location directly under the roof accessed via a steep staircase; guests here would use the bathroom and toilet in the main apartment). Please simply send a personal message if you are interested in this option. Guest access In addition to your apartment, you can also use the terrace and the laundry room. Other things to note Would you like to explore Vienna while still enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside? No problem—Hohenau has a train station offering direct connections to beautiful Vienna every half-hour or hour (travel time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes), as well as services in the opposite direction to the Czech Republic (the nearest town is Břeclav, a journey of about 20 minutes). If you are arriving with bicycles, they can be safely stored in the indoor vestibule; however, no liability is assumed. Cars can be parked on the street for free. Electric vehicles can be charged at the property for a fee (11 kW) if required. There are excellent shopping options nearby if you wish to prepare your own food. If you would like me to provide breakfast, you can discuss this with me on-site and order it for an additional fee. Coffee and tea are always available regardless. There are also options for dining out—feel free to check out my guide to Hohenau for recommendations. You will find plenty of other tips there as well. I look forward to welcoming you soon!
