Description
By the sea in Södra Bruket on southwestern Öland, this peaceful 55 sqm apartment on two floors is perfect for up to four people seeking tranquility, nature and a place to stay with character. Here you literally live within a bathrobe's reach of a beautiful pebble beach and sparkling water. Around the house there are six lush patios to choose from depending on the wind and light. Morning coffee in the sun, long dinners at sunset or a glass of wine with a sea view — there's always a place to sit down here. The space The apartment in this old working meadow from 1805 has two bedrooms, a separate fully equipped kitchen and is spread over two floors. You enter via the ground floor hall and then walk up to the upper part where one goes through the first bedroom to get to the combined living/bedroom to finally get to the kitchen. It is renovated in a careful 19th-century style with tongue-and-groove flooring, panelled walls, a custom-built counter and carefully selected details – at the same time fully equipped with modern amenities such as a dishwasher, coffee maker, fiber-optic Wi-Fi and washing machine, while preserving the old feel of the house. Not suitable for those of you who are looking for something sterile and modern. In the afternoon, the kitchen is filled with warm light while the sun glitters over the sea outside the windows. From the bedrooms you overlook the lush garden, with the morning light seeping in. Södra Bruket is one of Öland's most special places; an old utility community from the 19th century where the limestone, the sea and the barren nature have shaped the landscape and the atmosphere through generations. The area still bears traces of its history with the factory ruin located right outside the house, a magnificent large quarry where you can swim, industrial buildings and winding roads between the alvar and the sea. Today, the place is quiet and almost dreamlike, surrounded by nature reserves, hiking trails and the peculiar light that made southern Öland so loved among artists and photographers. In the area there are hiking trails, the geological garden and a dramatic coastal landscape with limestone, alvar fields and open sea. North of the beach by the house there are red rocks that throw themselves over the beach, south of there is a magic pine forest just along the water. A perfect accommodation for those who want to experience Öland's nature up close — swim, cook long dinners, read in the wind from the sea and land at a slower pace. If you are looking for a large selection of restaurants near your accommodation and a sense of the big city's pulse, then this is not right for you :)
