Private Luxurious Ms Helen's Down Under, once home to band practice and poker games now tastefully updated with modern decor and comfortable surroundings. This is the updated basement with its own separate entrance, bath, kitchen and Laundry room in my home. There is almost 700 sq feet to use or if you need a private getaway or crash pad. Loft style, their is no door on the bedroom. We do not block days at all in if it shows not available it isn't. We do not allow pets as host is allergic. Living here for many years we can guide you to many local attractions and restaurants. There are 4 churches in walking distance. Ask for a tour of the Raised gardens, Koi pond, Bee hives. John is an avid bee keeper... As a matter of fact we keep honey made right here at the house for our guests to use... Just love it? we keep a limited supply for sale for our guests as this honey normally sells out when we release it to the public. Want to know more just ask him. Bees you say? They are about 70 feet from the backdoor and there is a 9 foot fence between the backdoor and the bees. Honey bees won't bother you unless you bother them. Why did we decide to do this you ask? We have traveled a lot and I often said if we had a place that we shared we would have great beds (we do the bed is made by Olee they get great ratings) I want something to look at (we have great art!!), I want great technology and great TV's (got it, have questions we will answer them). I hate staying at places that have a wifi splash page or a time out or every time you leave you have to sign back on. You wont find that at our place or a restricted bandwidth. When I travel I take a USB stick with movies on it, most of the times the TV's in places I stay do not have the connection or aren't smart enough to play movies this way. You will be able to do this at our place. Have a Netflix account? All of our TV's are connected and SMART and have Netflix loaded on them. Need help just ask. Something else about our place - Good toilet paper (need I say more- lol) and Hotel Luxury towels and sheets. One of my pet peeves when traveling is where will I plug up my phone chargers or laptop? Solved at our place all the rooms have lamps with convenient easy to access plug ins. Clocks - All of ours have a USB charge port and large dials easy to see and in addition to that they project the time on the ceiling. Hot water you ask? We installed 2- 50 gallon hot water tanks in tandem, enough for 8 7 minute showers (average) back to back with out running out. What will you find in the space that's yours to use- We usually keep water in the fridge and sometimes soda or other beverages. For breakfast we keep Breakfast bars, Instant oatmeal, Hot Chocolate, assortment of teas, Coffee and creamers as well as sweeteners. You will also sometimes find snacks or microwave popcorn, just help yourself. We want your feedback--- We want this to be the best place in Roanoke to stay- tell us how? Come stay with us, you will be glad you did. Our guests get full access to all the public spaces unless it is locked. Shared spaces include the backyard and parking. We request that Ms Helen's Down Under Guests street park. Interaction depends on you, we are pretty busy but we can hang out with you if you want and when we are available... You decide. In the fall walk to the Greek Festival, or spend the weekend when Motor Madness is happening if you are a classic car fan. Parking for your car is in front of Ms Helens or a bus stop is 2.5 blocks away located in front of the 7/11, or if you are a walker you can walk to many Restaurants and near by Businesses.
