The Hermitage

Description

Within a pretty garden setting you will find our quiet secluded Cotswold retreat and place for refuge aptly named ‘The Hermitage’. Situated in the beautiful rural village of Frampton Mansell, the stunning timber framed holiday home offers everything you need for a relaxing and comfortble stay in the countryside. The space The Hermitage is a modern comfortable timber building, well insulated and conforms to all building regulations. Although the accomadation is private, secluded and exclusively for guest use, it is located within the grounds of our family home in a peaceful rural setting. Guests have their own private patio area, while the wider garden and surrounding grounds remain for the owner's use, so you may occasionally see us nearby or accessing the adjoining garage during your stay. As you enter the property, there is an area for hanging coats and storing shoes. The adjoining area has a dining table and chairs. 2 steps lead up to a well equipped modern kitchen providing you with everything needed to prepare the meals you desire. It has a cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. Also there is a breakfast bar where you can sit and enjoy views of the garden. On the same level as the kitchen is a high spec bathroom. Here you’ll find the WC, a large walk in shower, a lit mirror cabinet with a bathroom sink below, and a heated towel rail. Back down the steps and through the dining area is the cozy sitting room. Here you will find everything you need for relaxing in front of the television or simply picking something from the bookshelves that have an array of travel books and other interesting reading material. Board games and a pack of cards are also provided. Leading from the sitting room is the bedroom where there is a king sized bed, large wardrobe with drawers and shelves plus a dressing table (small hairdryer in the drawer) with a mirror above. Your outside space is a secluded gravel patio with a garden table, chairs and deck chairs and is situated in front of the property’s kitchen window. It can be accessed via the main garden, which you are at liberty to wander around, but we ask if you could use your dedicated area for sitting and eating please. There’s also a small table and chairs just outside the door of The Hermitage for your use. Things to know about; There is a lockable bike store for guest use Both the bedroom and sitting room have fire escape windows. Unfortunately, due to the location of the property, anyone who has mobility issues may find staying here unsuitable but we would be very happy to talk to you regarding this. Though you will find the majority of time here very peaceful, The Hermitage sits close to an active railway track and level crossing. The trains pass twice an hour on average but don’t run between the hours of 11 pm and 6 am. Guest access The Hermitage guests have a dedicated parking space. In order to access the property you will need to walk down garden steps which will be fully lit in winter and evening arrivals. The property and a private patio is solely for the use of guests. There is a key safe box to access the property for easy self check-in. Other things to note Frampton Mansell is the perfect place from which to explore the Golden Valley on foot or by bike. The 17th C Crown Inn, is a 5 minute up hill walk from The Hermitage. Here you can enjoy the views sitting in their garden in good weather or a welcoming open fire in the winter months. The Bell and The Daneway, both located in the neighbouring village of Sapperton, are a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away. There is also a popular farm shop ‘Jolly Nice’ a 25 minute walk or 5 minutes drive, and sells local produce. It has a cafe and bar serving food. Heading the other direction, the village of Chalford is situated 1 mile further along the valley from Frampton Mansell. It’s interesting pathways take you up and around the houses nestled in the hillside. Heading back, there’s a pretty walk up through the beech woods or down along the disused canal tow path. There is also the Chalford community shop selling basic provisions. The surrounding areas such as Cirencester, Stroud, Tetbury, Minchinhampton and Cheltenham are well worth a visit. For those who haven’t a car, there is a bus stop in the village. The buses will take you to Cirencester or Stroud and surrounding villages.
