Parkston Schoolhouse
Relax and unwind in this historic converted one-room schoolhouse. Built in 1870, the Parkston Schoolhouse served all grade levels in the Livingston Manor area. The schoolhouse was retired and converted to a cozy cottage style home in the mid 20th century and has recently been renovated into a stylish tiny home getaway. The home is tucked into the hillside along the beautiful, winding Willowemoc Creek and is set amidst a lush Catskill landscape just a five minute drive from Livingston Manor. Guest access The schoolhouse is a 5 minute drive to the village of Livingston Manor, where you can find great cafes, like the Walk In and the Neon Croissant; breweries, like the Catskill and Upward Brewing; and a variety of vintage and home decor stores. Event venues like the DeBruce Hotel and the Arnold House are a short distance away. As the house is located within the Catskill Park, there is great hiking and fishing in the area. Mongaup Campground has multiple trailheads and opportunities for swimming as well. Other things to note The Parkston Schoolhouse is set on a lush 1.5 acres across the road from the Willowemoc Creek. The property still contains relics of the schoolhouse history: the boy's outhouse next to the house and the original stone steps under the front porch. At the northernmost end of the property there is a small creek where the schoolchildren used to get their water. Feel free to venture past the fire pit up the hill! Additionally, we built a wood-fired sauna set into the hillside among the ferns!
