Kingfisher River Lodge is a modern, exclusive-use haven situated on the banks of the Crocodile River in Mjejane Private Game Reserve, with direct views of the world renowned Kruger National Park. With all the urban comforts in a wild bushveld setting, this is self-catering on a very luxury level, with beautifully decorated spaces, sublime bed linen and luxurious bathrooms. Created around the environment, the lodge’s minimalistic decor and airy spaces keep the focus on the beautiful setting it’s built in. Discerning and private, Kingfisher River Lodge breaks with traditional bush lodge style to create a space of modern stillness. Working with the clean lines of the architecture, the interior designer created a scheme that accentuates the sense of easy going, contemporary living ensuring a sense of comfort. A multitude of floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interior with natural light and allows the surrounding flora to act as decorative artwork enhancing the feeling of true inside/outside living. Interiors are clean and bright and the focus is on African-inspired design with luxurious textures and fabrics on modern furniture pieces. As a self-catering facility, the lodge provides a fully functional infrastructure to ensure guests the ultimate in a luxury bush experience. The lodge has an open plan lounge with a fireplace and well equipped kitchen and separate scullery. The al fresco dining area with a built-in braai is on the spacious patio and opens up completely to the river and Kruger bushveld beyond. A sparkling swimming pool with its built-in daybed is the perfect place to cool off when the weather is warm in between enjoying game drives. Note that the lodge caters for adults only and is not child friendly. Children under 12 are not allowed. The lodge has wifi throughout. Each of the two luxury bedrooms have a king extra length four poster bed dressed with Egyptian cotton, luxury king size pillows and silky-soft throws. The floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a unique vantage point give these lofty open-plan suites a bright and airy feel. Both bedrooms have air conditioning systems and insect-screened sliding doors opening on to shaded private patios looking out onto the Crocodile river and Kruger National Park. The open plan bathrooms have deep, free standing baths with views over Kruger, and both inside and double outside rain showers for an unforgettable bushveld experience. Don’t be surprised if you spot hippos walking past or monkeys playing in the trees. Or a variety of game on the lodges side of the river. Elephant families come to visit often. No African adventure would be complete without a safari and twice-daily game drives in the Mjejane Game Reserve can be booked at an additional cost of approximately R2500 per drive for a qualified field guide and safari vehicle. Housekeeping services are available during the week at an additional fee but unfortunately not over weekends or public holidays.
