This sunny corner room is the largest of the four guest rooms, with four windows that capture the glorious morning and afternoon southwest sun. The Alyce Wilson room features exquisite antique period furniture, including a queen sized bed topped with luxurious linens and pillows. This space, known as “the happy room” and once occupied by the lady of the house herself, is the perfect place for you to read and relax before heading off to Cape Charles Beach or exploring the local vineyards. This accommodation also features a private en suite bathroom with shower. This room comfortably accommodates up to two guests. When you pull up to the Bay Haven Inn we have parking available for you. We are located on the corner of Tazewell Avenue and Peach Street, so park in front of the house or on the Peach Street side. You will have access to your own room, which has an en suite bathroom, and you are welcome to use the restroom on the first floor as well. We offer you access to our “Butler’s Pantry” so you can help yourself to complimentary snacks and beverages. We serve coffee and tea before and during breakfast in the morning. Our hosts will go above and beyond to create a customizable experience for guests, be attentive to each need or request, and answer any questions about the area. And ifit’s privacy that’s sought after, guests will be pleased to find a number of “nooks” both inside and outside the inn where they can enjoy some alone time.On that note, Tammy will be your personal concierge to set up any reservations or arrangements you may need for dinner, excursions, recreation, etc. Guests will also be able to rest up from travel and relax on the restored wrap-around porch, which features a couch for napping, and a swing for lounging, people-watching, and/or greeting friendly locals and fellow vacationers strolling by. At the Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles, guests are not only welcomed but encouraged to bask in the warmth of the sun on this serene Chesapeake Bay beach sun or read a book while taking in the glow of a famous breathtaking Eastern Shore sunset. Guest Interaction: All guests have private rooms, but everyone sits down for breakfast together in our dining room, which is a great way to meet fellow travelers and learn what they have already experienced in Cape Charles. As guests you can socialize as little or as much as you want with other travelers, sharing discoveries of Cape Charles, the Eastern Shore or even other travel experiences. As innkeepers we love what we do but we are super dooper respectful of guest privacy and space...we are here if you need us but invisible if not! ( In the summer you will likely find us in the gardens, planting or harvesting those organic heirloom tomatoes and veggies for your hot plated gourmet breakfast! The historic "village" of Cape Charles is a 7 by 7 block grid of an amazingly charming and quaint town tucked away on the shoals of the Chesapeake Bay. Guests will find friendly faces offering a wave and nod as they stroll past each Victorian style home, one oozing more charm than the next! Located in the center of town, guests can enjoy long afternoons on the porch or saunter around the back of the inn to the town central park ( in the summer you can catch free concerts!). Or perhaps walk the two blocks to town for a quick bite or some shopping. But mostly we find guests heading down 4 blocks to get their toes in the sand on the sandy beach on the Chesapeake Bay! The inn provides a wonderful historic walking tour map that allows guests to explore by foot, bike, or golf cart the incredible history of this town. To include checking out "Sears" houses that were ordered and made by kits back in the day! One of the best things about Cape Charles is that everything is within walking distance. The Bay Haven Inn is located just 4 blocks from the bay, and just three blocks from Mason Avenue, which is home to some superb restaurants, antique and novelty shops, art and jewelry galleries and more. If you prefer to drive, parking at the beach is free, and there are plenty of parking spaces in town for you. We are located 50 mins from Norfolk International Airport. Once you come over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel you are coming into a uniquely serene and majestic shoreline of the Eastern Shore, to Cape Charles Virginia's Cape. We have ample on street parking and space for bikes as well. Breakfast: Guests love our signature hot breakfasts that we serve every the morning & complimentary, self-serve refreshments (The first glass of wine, beer or iced tea is on us!) House Rules: We have a couple of simple house rules as to make for an enjoyable stay for all of our guests. Because many guests want to come for a romantic vacation we only allow children over the age of 12. We can only accommodate 2 guests per room, so we cannot allow any extra guests to share your room; however, we do have four guest rooms total, so if your friends want to come too, give us a call! The more the merrier! We do not allow pets at the Bay Haven Inn. We have a designated smoking and vaping area outside near the palm tree in our yard. Please no smoking (including e-cigarettes and vape pens) in the house or on the porch. Thank you! Other Policies: Payment methods accepted: Cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Reservations and Charging Credit Cards: Reservations are secured by credit card and paid in full at time of reservation. Please note that Airbnb does not collect the required taxes. Taxes, which are separate from the room charges, will be due upon arrival. Your reservation confirmation is e-mailed to you as soon as possible after completion of the reservation form. Check-In4:00 PM– 6:00 PMIf arriving outside of check-in times please call to make arrangement. If you are going to be later than your arranged arrival time, please update us on your status and we will do our best to accommodate you. Check-Out 11:00 AM or prior If you would like to stay and play for the day we can secure your luggage for you until your departure. Cancellation: If your travel plans change or you must cancel your reservation, please call us to discuss your cancellation. There are certain times of the year that we have had to turn away many reservation requests and a cancellation places our small business in hardship if we are not able to fill those rooms. Therefore, our cancellation policy below is necessary. Once you have made a reservation (whether over the phone or online), there is a $35 cancellation fee per room regardless of when the cancellation is made. For a full refund (less $35 cancellation fee), two weeks’ notice (30 days for special events and holidays) of cancellation is necessary. Reservations cancelled under the 14 day (30 day for special events or holidays) time-frame will be charged in full. . The Bay Haven Inn does not issue refunds for “no show” guests or those who depart early, cancel less than 72 hours upon arrival, or for special event/holiday reservations. Reservations with a minimum stay requirement that are reduced to fewer nights will be charged the full amount of the required stay.
