The bar at Rimba is a magical place. There is a large open area with comfy bean bags and Thai beds, where you can spend hours enjoying uninterrupted views of the sea. There is a small selection of toys as well as board games and reading books available for you to borrow. The bar itself is well stocked with ice cold beer, delicious hand crafted cocktails, a curated wine list, juices and fresh coconuts. The ambience and the amazing staff make it the perfect place for a quiet drink before dinner. The friendly Rimba staff are always up for a chat over a few drinks, and the late night atmosphere at the bar is something that is completely unique. Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll want to come back- trust us! In the bar and restaurant area, there is fast STARLINK wifi available for you to use at any time, free of charge. The wifi does not extend to all of the chalets, further allowing you to switch off from the outside world. If Wifi is vital for you in your chalet, we’d recommend purchasing an E-Sim before visiting if you do not already have one. ---------------------- What can you do at Rimba? Private Beach! Due to Rimba’s unique location in a private bay, you have access to our stunning beach. The only other people using the beach will be other guests at the resort, and as the resort isn’t very big- and the beach is quiet long- it never feels busy. And often you’ll have it to yourselves. There is plenty of soft, white, sand- perfect for sun bathing or building sand castles. Due to the coral reef, the water is a bit rocky in places. But you can always find a sandy spot in the water to bob about in when the tide is higher. At low tide, you cannot easily swim due to the rocks. However if you have rock shoes, you can walk up the boat channel at low tide and still snorkel/swim over the coral reef. Snorkelling The onsite house reef offers some pristine snorkelling. If you swim out far enough, there are huge corals and an abundance of sea life. You’ll often spot small reef sharks in the water which can be seen from the beach. Pulau Sibu is located within a marine park, which has helped to preserve the quality of the house reef (and reduce the number of boats that you’ll see during your stay). The resort also offers snorkelling trips to the surrounding uninhabited islands. If you are thinking about doing this, definitely go for it! The islands are stunningly beautiful. Diving The onsite dive base offers a range of PADI courses as well as dive trips to the surrounding islands. These will need to be booked in advance, and we’ll message you ahead of your stay about the options available. From the dive centre you can also hire snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddle boards- perfect for exploring the private bay. Hiking From Rimba, you can walk through the jungle and explore the rest of the island. This is definitely a hike- the path isn’t flat and there are plenty of up and down bits, a rock to scale and tree roots to navigate. The path leads to another resort, with a sand beach- definitely take your swimming costume with you as there’s nothing better than a refreshing dip in the sea after conquering the jungle path! Rimba really is a back to nature escape, expect to spend hours just watching nature, expect to see beautiful butterflies, little lizards, birds- they are all around you! There are no roads at Rimba, the only way to get to and from your chalet is down a sandy path (shoes optional!). With this comes the added bonus of no road noise. As the bay is completely private to Rimba, there are no shops or other restaurants, which is why we provide both breakfast and dinner within the price of your stay. There are a range of lunch options to choose from, including a set lunch or lighter options such as sandwiches or french fries. All lunch items are available at an additional cost. Due to the remote nature of the resort, everything has to be brought in from the mainland via boat- quite a feat when you think about it! The resort is powered by a generator, providing you with electricity in your chalet. Guest access You will have exclusive use of our 2 bedroom chalet. You also have access to the onsite shared facilities including the chill out area, bar, restaurant and, of course, the beach! Other things to note Rimba Resort is only accessible via private speed boat. The cost of a return transfer to Tanjung Leman jetty is RM 170 ++ per adult and RM 120++ per child, which is payable at the resort. As Pulau Sibu is located within a marine park, you will need to pay a small marine park fee when you arrive at the jetty. This must be paid in cash. This covers you for any additional snorkelling trips etc you may go on during your stay too.
