Welcome to La Conciergerie, a beautifully restored 160m² stone cottage on a historic 18th-century French Maison de Maitre. . Sleeping up to 7 guests, this character-filled cottage blends rustic charm with modern comforts. Enjoy a spacious open-plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen, and three unique bedrooms, including a primary suite with a freestanding bathtub. Step outside to dine alfresco on your private terraces, or relax by the swimming pool in our tranquil walled gardens. The space An 18 th Century Retreat in Montaut. As you approach our village , heading towards our street you will be surprised by its beauty and immediately feel its historic ambience. As you walk through our stone and iron gates, it won’t be long before the wine is open and a plunge in the pool will be tempting you. Our 18 th century Manor House , two cottages and two gardens have been lovingly restored over a five year period. To honour the character of the property we wanted to keep its charm and soul as much as possible. Original beams, oak floorboards boards, worn stone floors and fireplaces have been saved. You’ll be throwing open the shutters to the big South West skies and the views of the village rooftops. But inside, it’s all comfort. The bedrooms The primary bedroom is a romantic retreat with a view of the garden and pool. A free standing bath sits alongside antique gallery finds, and queen sizes beds will provide a comfortable sleep ….you may not hear the sound of our village church bells. The large living rooms are comfortable, perfect for opening your book and a bottle of local wine. If you need a desk to work from home we can set that up for you. The WiFi is fast and is accessible across the property. The kitchen is charming with everything you need . Plenty of plates, platters glasses to enable a feast fit for a king to be served on the terrace. It’s very well appointed, offering a dishwasher, induction stove and oven, large fridge/ freezer including bar fridge. Gas and charcoal BBQs available. The Outdoor Space This is where you will reeelaxxxx, and recharge. The verdant garden around the pool is yours to exclusively enjoy. If you need a change of scene , we have a orchard garden, our secret garden, behind old wooden gates, across the road from our home. It’s a delightful spacious garden, offering raised vegetable beds, old fruit and nut trees, and sweeping views of the fields and Pyrenees mountains beyond. The perfect spot for long lunches, stargazing, and slow mornings with a croissant. The hammock is lethal once you lie in it , guaranteed you will loose track of time. Guest access You have plenty of outdoor space to relax in, two beautiful walled garden areas. A large orchard garden overlooking the Chalosse fields towards the Pyrenees Mountains and a lovely garden surrounding the pool and cottage .Enjoy the use of a hammock to relax in alongside a BBQ and picnic table for alfresco dining. The garden has many fruit trees, and fresh eggs are available curtesy of our free ranging hens. The use of the swimming pool will be exclusively yours. A private entrance is available, with parking outside our gates. Three bedrooms , two of which are very spacious and a large fully equipped kitchen and dining area , living room and bathroom are decorated to a high standard to enable you to turn out delicious meals. Choose from three outdoor areas to dine in, enjoying the surrounding garden and tranquility of the property. Help yourself to the BBQs and comfortable poolside chairs and parasols. The hosts live on site in the main house with two friendly, kid loving spaniels, but your space is completely separate so you will have full privacy. We will be on hand to keep the pool sparkling, and if you need local tips, to help make your vacation as relaxing and enjoyable as possible we are on hand! Other things to note Montaut, in the heart of South West France, is tucked away between rolling hills, duck farms , sunflower fields, gentle rivers, and views of the Pyrenees Mountains. This is authentic France, quiet village lanes, church bells tolling , cicadas in the summer evenings, and big skies over Gascony! A place of Armagnac, duck confit, farmers markets and hidden lakes. It’s rural, it’s beautiful and it’s real. Come here to cycle empty roads, swim in the rivers, visit medieval bastides, and stay up late because the stars are that good! Montaut is the definition of a peaceful character filled French village. Think stone houses, church bells, and stunning views , cafes and markets are nearby where everyone meets to enjoy an aperitif, and watch the world go by in the town squares.
