Historic and beautiful Rock View sits just off Moorlands Lane, a quiet village road, that winds down to the River Derwent. Rock View lies between Froggatt Edge and the river. Rock View is the perfect Peak District get away, with nature on your doorstep. Ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. In the oldest part of the village, Rock View is secluded but has neighbours. A lovely place to stay with walks in every direction for those wanting a challenge or a leisurely stroll. The space Within the tiny historic village of Froggatt, Rock View is close to Chatsworth, Longshaw, Bakewell , Stoney Middleton and Eyam. On the door-step are the country houses and gardens of Chatsworth and Haddon hall within easy driving distance. Walk from the door into stunning scenery, with wild moors, dramatic rock edges, ancient woodland and the River Derwent. Being within England’s first designated national park Rock View is situated amidst the splendour of the Peak District scenery, yet the city of Sheffield is a mere 25 minutes drive. The Michelin recommended pub, The Chequers, is in the village and serves good home cooked food along with a gourmet menu. Several other pubs and restaurants are within easy reach in the local area and cater for all tastes and budgets. There is a variety of take-aways also within easy reach, some of which deliver. The famous and fabulous Chatsworth farm shop is a few minutes drive away. The local shop and delicatessen at Calver, 1 mile away ,sells local produce, fabulous locally made bread, meat and vegetables and is a good all-round grocery store with an off- license. Access via shallow steps to the front door, accommodation is all on one ground floor and part of a larger house but not suitable for wheel-chair users. Rock View is in the oldest part of the village/ hamlet and one of the oldest properties, and although has surrounding properties is minutes from the fields and river. Rock View is very spacious and light. Sympathetically decorated and furnished to retain its style and character in keeping with its age, Rock View retains original features including stone mullion windows with leaded lights and stone fire places with a multi-fuel stove in the stylish and cozy sitting room, which has two large and elegant sofas. The dining room seats 6, should you wish to invite friends for dinner. Rock View kitchen is modern with an electric oven and gas hob, fridge and freezer and a washing machine . The kitchen is fully equipped with the usual plus slow-cooker, , cafetiere, pasta-maker, etc. If you require any other kitchen item then please ask the owner who will endeavour to help). The one large bedroom has a king-sized bed and has an en-suite shower room. All linen provided. Parking is a very short distance from the cottage and is on the quiet Moorlands Lane. If you have any requests for local produce hampers this can be arranged or a shopping service provided if required. Guest access There is a patio sun trap at the front of the property with table and chairs , ideal for a sunny breakfast or glass or two of wine. With views from the back over a garden that is privately owned by the rest of the larger house. Other things to note Ideal for walking or cycling holidays , with challenging routes on the moors and mountains and more gentle options along the valleys and rivers. Sight seeing trips to stately homes, Chatsworth House, Christmas market and lights. The beautiful Haddon Hall and the famous Bakewell just a few minutes away. Perfect for wild life photography with red deer herds in such close proximity the stags can be heard roaring during rutting season ( Oct/Nov time) Longshaw estate is a few minutes drive or 30 mins walk up the woods for the more adventurous, an ideal place for bird and deer watching or a cup of coffee and a cake in the National Trust tearooms.
