Your tranquil countryside getaway awaits The space Welcome to our Shepherd's cottage which is on a working farm of 140 acres With far reaching views across the valley. It's ideal for four people, the cottage is fully central heated and double glazed. with two bathrooms: one upstairs and one downstairs. From your doorstep you can take the footpath to "The Great Ridge Walk" lose hill ridge and enjoy spectacular views over the Hope Valley in the heart of the Peak District National Park with peaceful situation and extensive views. Between the Edale Valley and the Hope Valley, we are surrounded by peaceful pasture and woodland. Our cottages is great for a staycation, as a work-from-home, alternative with super fast internet, or for families. No smoking. Cycle store. Lot of eating place in the village of Castleton 15 minutes walk from the cottage. ideally situated to visit Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Peveril Castle Guest access With plenty of parking space in front of the cottage, there’s no need to drive as there are amazing walks straight from your doorstep. From there you can take the footpath up to the ridge and to Lose Hill, Hollins Cross and the shivering Mountain that is Mam Tor. Spectacular views over the Hope Valley are aplenty. From there you can return to the farm through Castleton or pop down to Edale which is very pretty too. Castleton is only a fifteen minute walk from the cottage and has numerous high quality pubs and locally produced eateries and there’s much to see. More commonly known for its Blue John Mines, a must do visit is to walk to Peveril Castle which is steeped in history and has stunning views of the town and surrounding valley. You can, of course, travel further afar as there is much to do in the Peak District whether walking, cycling or as a visiting sightseer - you’re spoilt for choice. You’ll want to enjoy one of the great days out in Derbyshire and the Peak District. There are many attractions in the area: beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall in the market town of Bakewell; the spar town of Buxton with its Opera House, beautiful Pavilion Gardens and Gallery in the Gardens annual event; and Matlock Bath which is nearby with stunning views from the Heights of Abraham and the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site that is Cromford Mills and the National Tramway Museum. Other things to note Here's what to expect when you come to stay Arrival Our check in time is now slightly later at 5pm unless prearranged to enable us to carry out the extra cleaning measures We will be operating a self-check in, but will be on hand at a social distance if you need any help We will provide extra cleaning products and hand sanitiser to use during your stay When you enter your Cottage please take your shoes off and leave in the entrance We have removed non-essential items to reduce risk and make cleaning easier, but if you need anything let us know Cleaning In addition to our usual thorough cleaning routines we will be sanitizing all high touch surfaces with disinfectant spray In the cottages all cutlery and crockery and glasses will be run through the dishwasher ready for your arrival Remote controls are in a plastic bag to reduce risk Laundry We will provide pillows, duvets, sheets and towels as usual. If you feel happier bringing your own pillows and bedding just let us know Linen and towels are washed at 60 degrees Adhere to social distancing during your stay Tell us immediately if you feel unwell Before you leave open all the windows and give the toilets a final flush Strip the beds and place linen and towels in the bags provided Empty all rubbish bins Experiences Some of our local Peak District attractions won’t be open but there are plenty of wonderful walks from the door Plus, we extend a warm welcome to your furry friends (up to 2 dogs maximum) to join in the adventure Bear in mind that you will probably need to pre-book tickets in advance to visit attractions which are open. We are here to help If you have any concerns or there is anything else you want to know please ask If you feel ill during your stay or after leaving you must tell us immediately Guests can not invite other guests over who are not part of the original booking. We provide bread, butter, eggs milk, sugar, orange juice, tea and coffee for breakfast , so guests will not have to rush out and buy something. If you would like a cooked breakfast please let us know and this can be ordered in for you at an extra charge of £10
