The kitchen is fully equipped and there is central heating, wifi etc. You cannot park outside Orchard The space Orchard Cottage is full of light with lovely views of the orchard and paddocks. Totally secluded you will be disturbed by nothing more than an owl hunting or one of the local Munjac deer ambling by. It is in the grounds of West Stow Hall which is in the small village of West Stow and 5 miles from Bury St Edmunds. Unfortunately although the cottage itself is all on one level it can only be reached by walking from the car park in front of the hall. The walk of a few minutes involves two sets of steps, one of which is quite steep - though there is a handrail. Please see the video. Do note that though dogs are welcome that there is no enclosed area. The cottage is in the orchard which is only fenced in by post and rail fencing so dogs do have to be kept on a lead when outside the cottage. Larger groups of up to 10, can be accommodated by booking Gardener’s cottage - sleeps 6 - as well. Guest access Guests should note that it is not possible to park outside the cottage and Orchard cottage can only be accessed via two sets of steps and a walk along gravel paths. This only takes a couple of minutes but something to be borne in mind if anyone has mobility issues & when heavy suitcases etc need transporting. Guests are welcome to stroll round the orchard and enjoy drinks etc on the terrace outside of the Cottage. Please note that the gardens around the Hall are private. Guests are asked not to wander in this area. Other things to note The cottage is 5 miles from Bury St. Edmunds,in the small village of West Stow and in the grounds of West Stow Hall. Car parking is in front of the hall. There is plenty of space for several cars. To reach the cottage involves carrying bags etc for about 2-3 minutes along gravel paths and navigating two sets of steps. The second of which is quite steep though there is a handrail. The cottage itself is all on one level. Mobile signal is very patchy- non existent in areas but WiFi is good. However it does mean that directions etc should be saved/ downloaded before hand. Dogs and other pets are welcome by arrangement but, as the orchard is next to the Stud farm, dogs do have to be kept on a lead outside of the cottage. Unfortunately there is no enclosed area for dogs to be off the lead. Do note that there is a £25 extra cleaning fee per visit if you bring a dog. This is payable in cash on arrival.
