La Forêt des Etoiles - house, garden, fireplace
Description
Our guesthouse is a small 19th-century stone house, self-contained, on the edge of the Trois Pignons forest. A fireplace, beams, old terracotta tiles, and a garden where we eat outside in summer. The children have their own room with toys and books, and we lend a cot and a high chair. It is very quiet: you mostly hear birds (and owls at night). Trails and boulders start on foot, and bikes are delivered to the house. Milly-la-Forêt and its pool, 4 km. Fontainebleau and its châteaux, 20 min. The space The house is 72 m² and stands just opposite ours. On the ground floor: the living room with its fireplace, beams and old terracotta tiles, the kitchen (dishwasher), a bedroom and its shower room. Two doors open onto the garden. Upstairs: two bedrooms and a bathroom, reached only from outside, by two staircases (entrance side or garden side). Washing machine, fibre internet, cot, hammock, high chair, toys and books. Guest access You come in through the gate, and a paved path runs along our house to the guesthouse. You can drive in to load and unload your bags; for the rest of your stay there is room to park by the church, 50 m away. We share the entrance, but the outdoor spaces are separate: your garden is behind the guesthouse. Mobile phones get no signal on the property and very little in the village. The wifi, on the other hand, is good and wifi calls go through fine. Other things to note The forest, as of 22 August 2026: around 80% of the Fontainebleau massif has reopened. Franchard and Apremont are accessible again, a 20-minute drive away. On foot from the house, the Chemin de la Ségognole and La Roche Percée are open, on flat ground. Milly-la-Forêt, Barbizon and the park of the Château de Fontainebleau are running as usual. The Trois Pignons massif has not reopened yet. Shops: a small grocery in Le Vaudoué, the next village; in Milly-la-Forêt (4 km), a bakery, a butcher and a cheesemonger; a supermarket in Oncy-sur-École. Bikes: a nearby company delivers to the house free of charge, for adults and for children, and crash pads too. Electric cars: a charging point 1 km away, a Tesla supercharger in Ury (7 km). A playground and a football pitch near the town hall. The house manual is online, do have a look.
