Cosy cottage in village
Cosy cottage in village
Description
The Annexe is attached to our home and dates back to 1883. It has had various uses over the years; a sweet shop in the 1950s, a meat store for the local butcher, and a place where the milkboys used to shelter from the weather. After being in a state of disrepair for the last few decades, it is now a comfortable place for those who wish to stay in a quiet village location with good amenities, great walks on the door step, and access to central Glasgow and Edinburgh in under an hour. The space The Annexe is recently renovated and has been fully brought back to life with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Upstairs, the bedroom is in the eaves and has a large double bed and plenty clothes storage and places to sit. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen living area with a sofa, footstools, and a Smart TV with all the usual streaming services including Netflix, Amazon, Disney etc logged in. If you have more than 2 people staying, the sofa folds into a small double bed and will fit 2 adults who don’t mind sleeping cosily. The kitchen is well stocked with all utensils and basics you need to get started with a small laundry cupboard housing the washing machine and a foldaway table and chairs to have your meals. The bathroom has a mixer shower and all the towels and linen you’ll need. The Annexe’s hot water is supplied from a 90l cylinder which allows for around 20 minutes constant supply for the shower. The cylinder refills in a short period of time to allow for further hot water. A couple of showers are more than achievable. The Annexe is in a small village that has a lot to do, situated 2 miles from the M74 and access to central Glasgow and Edinburgh in under an hour. A local bus service runs from the village to bigger transport hubs but a car will make your stay a lot easier. There are 2 public chargers within the village and a further 1 a couple of miles away all charging less than your typical service station prices. There is a local garage providing petrol and diesel at rates cheaper than the motorway services. There are many walks right on your doorstep, all dog friendly and a mix of easy walking routes and more challenging trails, both filled with historical sites. The village has small grocery stores with plenty fresh food, a butcher, a bakery, a deli, a cafe, a pet food shop, a cake shed, and a hardware store/garage within walking distance. Local fish vans also come by regularly. Once you’ve done all that, the local pub offers a comfortable seat for the evening or head into surrounding towns and villages where there are a selection of pubs and restaurants. If you’re heading out and would rather not drive, we can help arrange transport. Guest access The entire Annexe is yours for the duration of your stay. There is no private outdoor space however The Annexe is a few minutes walk from an abundance of fields and wonderful walks. Other things to note Dogs are more than welcome, our own 3 will confirm that the village and its walks are very much their playground, but please don’t leave yours on their own in the property or let them sleep on the furniture - The Annexe has cast radiators in every room they’ll be very comfy snuggling up to instead. If you do need to head out without them, we should be able to arrange dog sitting on request. Being an old property, the stairs leading upstairs are steeper than standard and have a turn meaning those with mobility issues might find them tricky. There is also a small step up to the front door although once inside the downstairs of the property is level. We strongly recommend children be monitored on the stairs. Licence Number: SL00362F
