Built in 1820, this Category B listed property combines timeless character with stunning sea views towards Arran and Ailsa Craig, set within beautiful walled gardens. Enjoy coastal walks, the village café, restaurant/pub, gift shop and Dunure Castle ruins, all just a short stroll away. The space Arriving at Dunure House, you'll follow a private driveway through elegant sandstone pillars before reaching the golden gravel drive, with ample private parking for guests. Step through the main entrance into the welcoming reception hall, which provides access to the principal rooms on the ground floor. The house features four beautifully appointed double bedrooms, each offering flexible sleeping arrangements with either a super-king bed or twin beds, making Dunure House ideal for families, friends and groups travelling together. The elegant drawing room is a wonderful place to relax, with comfortable seating, beautiful period features, a wood-burning stove and a characterful carved drinks cabinet. It's particularly inviting after a day exploring the Ayrshire coast. The formal dining room provides a memorable setting for meals together, with seating for up to eight guests, a wine fridge and a historic sideboard formerly owned by the Duke of Devonshire. French doors open directly onto the garden patio, creating a peaceful spot for morning coffee surrounded by the gardens and nature. The spacious, well-equipped country kitchen has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including two large fridge-freezers, coffee machines, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, together with a generous selection of crockery, glassware, utensils and cooking equipment. There are three bathrooms, providing a combination of three showers and two baths, while an additional cupboard houses an iron, ironing board and electric clothes dryer. Throughout the house, you'll find thoughtful touches designed to make your stay comfortable. The monks' bench in the main hallway provides cushions for the outdoor benches, along with recycled wool blankets, perfect for wrapping up and enjoying Dunure's spectacular coastal sunsets. A host who is close by I'm on-site and available to help should you need recommendations, local information, or assistance during your stay. At the same time, your accommodation remains your own private space, allowing you to relax and enjoy Dunure House at your own pace. Guest access Guests have access to the main house and its beautiful surrounding garden grounds. On arrival, you can either let yourself in using the secure key safe, or we can welcome you personally and show you around. Full key-safe instructions and arrival details will be provided after booking. The house sits within peaceful garden grounds, with outdoor seating in the front garden where you can relax, enjoy the fresh coastal air and take in the spectacular surroundings. From Dunure House, the Ayrshire coast and coastal walking paths are right on your doorstep. Follow the private driveway towards the harbour, with steps leading down to the historic fishing harbour and shoreline. Once at the harbour, you're just a short stroll from some of Dunure's local highlights, including Wild Rituals wood-fired sauna, Harbour Café, The Anchorage Restaurant & Bar and Aruna Art & Gifts. Continue along the coastal path to discover the atmospheric ruins of Dunure Castle and Kennedy Park, and, if you're feeling adventurous, see if you can find your way through the local labyrinth. Spend the day walking beside the sea, searching for sea glass and agates, swimming in the clear coastal waters, or enjoying activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkelling along the coast. Other things to note Dunure House is a spacious historic home set within beautiful walled gardens on the edge of Dunure village, reached via a private road. The setting offers a wonderful sense of peace and privacy while still being just a short walk from the harbour, coastline and village. As Dunure is a peaceful coastal village, we kindly ask guests to be considerate of our neighbours. We have a quiet, mindful time from 11 pm until morning, allowing everyone in the surrounding area to enjoy the tranquillity of this special part of the Ayrshire coast. Your Host Your host lives on the floor above and is available should you need assistance, local recommendations or information during your stay. At the same time, guests have their own private ground-floor accommodation, and we are very happy to give you as much space and privacy as you wish. Local Shops & Produce The nearest small supermarket is approximately a 10-minute drive from Dunure, with additional shops and supermarkets around five minutes further on. For something more local, Humeston Farm Shop is around 10 minutes south of Dunure on the scenic route towards Culzean Castle and its beautiful parkland. You can find fresh milk, home-reared lamb, locally sourced bread and baking, fresh vegetables and a selection of gifts and local produce. We can also assist with breakfast packs and, where arranged in advance, help with the delivery and unpacking of pre-ordered groceries. Golf, Coastal Adventures & Relaxation Dunure House is an ideal base for exploring South Ayrshire and the wider Ayrshire coast, whether you're visiting for a golf holiday, a coastal escape, outdoor adventures or simply some much-needed time away from everyday life. The surrounding coastline is perfect for walking, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and exploring the shoreline. We're happy to recommend suitable local swimming spots, and if you bring your own paddleboards, we can advise on local conditions and safe storage options. For those looking to relax after a day exploring, a wood-fired sauna is available to hire just a few minutes' walk away at the harbour. Things to See & Do There is plenty to discover within easy reach of Dunure House. Visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and discover more about Scotland's national poet, or spend a day exploring Culzean Castle and its spectacular National Trust for Scotland parkland, gardens and coastline. Whisky lovers can enjoy a tasting experience at A.D. Rattray in the nearby village of Kirkoswald, just a few miles from Dunure. Around 30 minutes away by car, Dumfries House is well worth a visit. Set within approximately 2,000 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens, the magnificent house is home to an exceptional collection of Chippendale furniture and offers a fascinating day out.
