The Cottage at the Wrangell Boat Shop
The Cottage at the Wrangell Boat Shop
Description
The Wrangell Boat Shop was built in 1928 by Norwegian boatbuilder Olaf Hansen. The Wrangell Boat Shop Cottage offers a unique stay on Wrangell’s historic working waterfront. Thoughtfully updated with Nordic-inspired touches, the cottage is within walking distance to downtown, the harbor, shops, and restaurants. Authentic, cozy, and deeply connected to Wrangell’s maritime history and character. The space Set on a historic working waterfront property, originally the boat shop’s auxiliary office, the Cottage has been thoughtfully reimagined as a warm, intimate retreat. Alaskan and Norwegian art spanning more than 200 years is comfortably placed throughout the space—a quiet nod to the sea, craftsmanship and the generations of people who built lives in northern places. History lives here, but nothing about your stay requires roughing it. Enjoy on-demand hot water, all-new appliances, gas cooking, a proper vented range hood and the warm, flickering ambiance of a fireplace. Rich wood, soft light and carefully chosen details create a space that feels comfortable, atmospheric and unmistakably Alaskan. Guest access Please note: The cottage is located on a historic working waterfront/boat shop property. Guests are welcome to enjoy the designated cottage and outdoor guest areas, but some shop, storage, and work areas on the property are private and off-limits for safety and operational reasons.
