Briar House, Skyros Island

The “Briar House” has been recently renovated and is located in the upper part of Skyros Town, on the main uphill way to the fortress and to St. George Monastery. It can accommodate 2 persons. Outside cube shaped, the house follows the characteristic architecture of the island. Inside the architect has used modern elements to make guests stay more pleasant. The space The house has an open plan kitchen - living area, a bedroom with a double bed (140cm wide) and the bathroom en suite (with shower). A balcony and a terrace, where you can relax and enjoy your breakfast or meal, are overlooking the countryside and in the distance the sea. Air condition keeps the house comfortable during hot weather. Linen and towels are provided but no beach towels. The house is not suited for a wheelchair. Please note that pets are not admitted. Guest access The neighborhood, formerly known as the Noblemen’s quarters, is very pleasant, near the Municipal Museum and the byzantine fortress, with many old chapels and a square with a characteristic maple tree which provides cool shade in the hot days. The beautiful fine sand beach, Magasià, is a 10 minute walk from the house down a long set of stone steps that offers a stunning view of the Aegean Sea – figure that the return back up the steps toward the village will take about 20 minutes. The village centre, where you will find the bank, post office, groceries, taverns and cafés, is within walking distance through the picturesque streets. The village is a pedestrian area and cars and mopeds must stay outside the town limits in one of two designated parking areas – from the house it is a distance of 100 meters to one car parking and 200 meters to the other. Please note that during high season (July, August) it is possible to have difficulty for a parking place near the house. There is a bus to all island destinations but also taxis, "rent a car" and "rent a bike" agencies. From the airport or from the port the guests can arrive by bus or by taxi. The owners, who speak English, German, French, Italian and Greek, will be present to greet the guests upon arrival and will be available to give information about the island regarding the history, the beaches, the shops, the restaurants. They will be generally available in order to help the guests and make their stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The island of Skyros is very popular with walkers and hikers and has beautiful paths by the sea and in the countryside or leisurely strolls through the narrow streets of the village. Skyros has been inhabited since the time of antiquity and archeological excavations uncovered a fortified settlement from the Bronze Age (approx. 2000 BC) at Palamari, at the northern part of the island, with impressive walls still extant. In Skyros you will meet also the Skyros horse (Equus caballus skyriano), a small rare breed that survives from antiquity. Registration Details 00000001688
