Just 25 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, Muir Beach is a hidden jewel and West Marin living at its best. The beach is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and surrounded by coastal trails. Visitors may also enjoy hiking Mt. Tamalpais or visiting Muir Woods National Monument, Green Gulch Farm/Zen Center, and The Pelican Inn, an authentic English pub. Activities abound: hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming. Walk to beach and hiking trails. Muir Woods is three miles away. Sausalito and its beautiful bay views, shops and restaurants is 10 miles away. San Francisco/Golden Gate Bridge is 12 miles away (25-30 minute drive). Hike the Coastal Trail to our north (starts at Muir Beach Overlook) or south (starts from Muir Beach). 2. Muir Woods (10 minutes; crowded on weekends, go early, **See Below for parking reservation information.) 3. Pelican Inn (One minute; apres beach for a drink, dinner, or Sunday brunch) 4. Stinson Beach (30 minutes) and Bolinas (45 minutes). Enjoy the beautiful coastal drive and cute beach towns along Hwy 1 North. 5. Point Reyes (One hour; lighthouse, cute town. A little farther north, enjoy oysters on Tomales Bay at Hog Island Oysters.) 6. Golden Gate National Recreation Area: tons of hiking trails around Mt. Tam surrounding Muir Beach. 7. Sausalito (15 minutes. Enjoy views of the bay and San Francisco. Shops and restaurants; our favorites are Fish and Le Garage. Take ferry from Sausalito to San Francisco and enjoy the ride on the bay.) 8. Downtown Mill Valley (20 minutes; shops and restaurants. Use shortcut; see map in drawer or map it.) 9. We suggest you stop at the store before your arrival. Entrance fees are separate from parking and shuttle reservations. Visitors are strongly encouraged to purchase their entrance fees in advance to decrease waiting times and person to person contact. Users are urged to download, screen shot or print their parking or shuttle reservations in advance because of the lack of Wi-Fi or cellphone service at or near Muir Woods. Animals: The Love Shack is not suitable for any animals including Emotional Support Animals or ESAs due to health (asthma, allergies) and safety issues of others (other animals on property will not tolerate strange animals.) Chimes: Our main house has beautiful chimes that you may hear when the wind comes up. TRAVEL INSURANCE We encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance from Airbnb.
