Description

Looking out at the view from a cottage snuggled on the side of a hill, sitting in a wood fired hot tub with a glass of wine or one of our craft beers, staring at the mountains is an ideal way to spend time away in the country in our nature reserve The space During the course of 2018, a 22km game fence was completed so that the cottages are now part of the game reserve (hence the reason for no pets allowed). Abundant bird life, some blue wildebeest, black and copper springbok are amongst the wildlife that will be your fellow residents during your stay. An open plan kitchen and living area extends onto a private wooden deck where you can sit with a cup of coffee and relax with beautiful mountain views which stretch for miles while listening to the sounds of busy birds flitting from bush to bush. Each cottage sleeps a maximum of 6 adults comfortably, with all the modern conveniences such as solar power, private braai and hot water and an extra bedroom with 2 single bunk beds. Advertised Rate is for 2 guests, thereafter additional guests are charged at R300 per person per night to a max of 6 guests in total) A wood fired hot tub on the deck of the cottage is a perfect place to watch the stars and listen to the sounds of nature. It is one of 5 exclusive units within our nature reserve - each, unique and offering privacy and memorable experiences. There are 2 cottages on the farms main dam. The third cottage is neatly tucked away behind another hill – this one is called Solitude and that is what it promises. Sundowner is also neatly sited to offer fabulous sunset evenings Small luxuries of tea/coffee/sugar/olive oil and balsamic vinegar are provided. There is NO 240V power - the cottages only have 12V power with no plug points. There are 2 USB charging spots, we recommend packing in a power bank :) 1 bag of wood per night is supplied to get the hot tub going, as well as firelighters, braai grid and tongs. It is recommended that you bring extra wood. Crisp white bedding and towels add a touch of luxury within the rustic farm landscape. We allow for late check out on Sunday's should there be no bookings for the Sunday night. Check out times will be confirmed closer to the time. . Unfortunately, no day visitors allowed. Guest access There is a viewing deck which sits at the top of the hill from which you can view the rest of the reserve and enjoy sundowners Other things to note We charge a base rate for 2 people and then R300 per person per night after that to a max of 6 guests in the cottage. Access to the cottage is on typical gravel farm roads- it can be rough and uneven, dusty in summer and muddy if it has rained. A normal car can drive to Lookout Cottage but we wouldn't recommend any Ferrari's ;) or sports vehicles. The last section of road to the cottage is a short, fairly steep incline. The 6km gravel road to the farm can be corrugated if the municipality hasn't graded recently. There is NO 240V power - the cottages only have 12V power with no plug points. There are 2 USB charging spots - we recommend packing in a power bank :)
