Welcome to our 1966 Scandinavian mid-century modern cabin in the woods . Lovingly renovated inside & out with every modern amenity, and lake views out every window. Located under star filled night skies in the "quiet corner" of Conn. Close to CT wine trail, hiking, antiques & farm stands. Max of 7 people allowed. No Parties. Convenient to Boston, Hartford, Providence, NY Worcester, Newport, & Berkshires. 25 min to UCONN, Eastern, Woodstock & Pomfret Academy, 40min to Clark + Trinity The space The house is a lofty space with 16 foot ceilings and windows everywhere. The house sleeps 7. it has 2 bedrooms each with double bed, a loft with 3 single beds. There are 2 full bathrooms. There is no bathtub only showers. Mattresses are super comfy from Casper and outfitted with down comforters and down pillows. Enjoy the silence in a crisp white room, beds with white linens and the trees swaying outside your window. The kitchen is a cook's dream with a gas stove all the tools you need to make a great meal including Dutch ovens, a convection oven, and bakeware. You’ll find an extra deep sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher to clean it all up. The lake is peaceful and our patio with a big comfortable outdoor table, lounge chairs and sofas provides ample seating for whatever mood you’re in. The house comes with a library for book borrowing, all your favorite board games and then some, 4 adult kayaks, 2 kids kayaks + a gas grill and a Weber charcoal grill. There's a solo stove fire pit with 8 Adirondack chairs. YOU WILL NEED TO CLIMB STAIRS. THE HOUSE IS NOT SINGLE LEVEL. THERE ARE STAIRS TO LAKE AND TO DRIVEWAY. IF WEATHER IS GOOD YOU CAN PULL DOWN STEEP DRIVEWAY AND YOU ARE TEN FEET FROM HOUSE. ITS 6 STEPS UP TO FRONT DOOR. IF THERE IS SNOW YOU WILL HAVE TO PARK IN TOP DRIVEWAY AND WALK ABOUT 50 FT DOWN TEN LONG STEPS WITH A RAILING WHICH WILL BRING YOU TO THE SIX STEPS UP TO THE FRONT DOOR. See exterior photos in the gallery the house is on a downhill lot. Guest access There is parking for up 5 cars (depending on size of car!) The house is on a dirt road - so if you're here in the wintertime be prepared for a little snow! The roads do get plowed. There is no public transportation nearby - there is a little general store/bodega that is a half mile or so walk up the road. If you want more civilization - Putnam CT is about 25 minute ride down the road which is a cute old town with antique shops and restaurants. Fear not. There is a Target 25 min away. YOU WILL NEED TO CLIMB 6 STEPS TO GET TO THE HOUSE from the lower driveway. While the two main bedrooms and bathroom are on the main floor you will need to tackle between 12 and 24 steps to get to the lakefront depending on which way you leave the house. The lower driveway is steep. Upper driveway can fit three cars. Other things to note The house is on a lake and it's a quiet lake. There are no parties allowed. Cameras are located on the property exterior for security purposes. No personal boats are allowed in the lake due to algae concerns. The lake board enforces all CT boating laws and only allows resident boats on the lake to protect the health of the lake. Please wash your kayak or SUP before bringing it in the lake. This keeps the lake healthy. And ensures algae from other bodies of water don’t infect the lake. You need to have on a life vest when you are kayaking or on a stand up paddle board. Vests are in the gray bin in the yard by the shed. Please put the kayaks back where you found them on the racks and the vests back in the bin and oars on the hooks. This is STRICTLY NO SMOKING and NO VAPING house. You can smoke away from the house but are required to pick up and butts/roaches etc. Any evidence of smoking or vaping in the house or on the decks/porches will be reported to airbnb and an additional upholstery steam cleaning fee of $600 will be requested.
