The space Welcome to The West Walker House, a standalone one-bedroom home tucked at the front of the Historic West Walker Motel, yet completely private, with its own entrance, driveway, and fenced backyard. It is the perfect two-person basecamp for fishing, hiking, and exploring California’s Highway 395 corridor, where Sierra serenity meets historic charm. Wake up to mountain views, brew a pot of coffee in your full kitchen, and set out for the West Walker River, Topaz Lake, Bridgeport, Bodie, or the eastern gateway to Yosemite. Come evening, cook a real dinner, stream a show on the smart TV, and let the quiet mountain air settle in. The home at a glance: • Bedroom: A plush king bed under a ceiling fan, a mounted smart TV, a roomy closet, and big windows framing the mountains. • Living room: A leather sofa and swivel chairs, a second smart TV, and an oversized picture window with Sierra views. • Dining area: A handsome wood table for shared meals, morning coffee, or a game of cards. • Full kitchen: Gas range and oven, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, drip coffee maker, and butcher-block counters stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils. • Bathroom: A spacious walk-in shower and modern vanity, with fresh towels and linens provided. • Comfort: Efficient mini-split heating and air-conditioning, plus free WiFi throughout. • Outdoors: A private, fenced backyard with a deck, and a private driveway right out front. Guest access The entire house and fenced yard are yours, with keyless self check-in via a smart lock so you can come and go on your own schedule. Because the home sits on the grounds of the Historic West Walker Motel, you are also welcome to enjoy the shared garden, picnic and barbecue areas, and outdoor fireplace. Friendly on-site management is nearby if you need anything, and the locally loved Mountain View BBQ is right across the street. Other things to note • This is a standalone house that sleeps two in one king bed, ideal for couples, solo travelers, or an adventure or fishing buddy trip. • Self check-in at 4:00 PM; check-out at 10:00 AM. • Dog-friendly with prior approval and a pet fee; the fenced yard is a big plus for four-legged travelers. • No washer or dryer in the home. • Free WiFi and free private driveway parking. • The home is on the grounds of a small historic motel; you may see other guests in the shared garden areas, but the house, entrance, driveway, and backyard are private to you. • Rural mountain setting on Highway 395; cell coverage is generally good but can vary by carrier. • Elevation is roughly 5,000 feet; take it easy and stay hydrated on your first day. • Seasonal note: mountain passes such as Tioga Road into Yosemite close in winter and spring, so check road conditions before day trips. Mountain Area & Utility Outage Notice Please be aware that this property is located in a mountain region, where occasional area-wide power, internet, cellular, and other utility interruptions may occur due to weather, wildfire-prevention measures, utility maintenance, infrastructure issues, or other circumstances beyond the Host’s control. By booking this property, guests acknowledge and accept that temporary utility interruptions are a possibility when staying in a mountain community and that uninterrupted utility service cannot be guaranteed. The Host is not responsible for outages caused by utility providers or other circumstances outside the Host’s reasonable control. Temporary area-wide utility outages that are not caused by a condition or failure specific to the property are not grounds for a host-issued refund or compensation. If an outage occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to provide available information and assist guests; however, the timing of restoration is determined by the applicable utility or service provider.
