Come get your kicks on Route 66! The space This cozy retro cottage sits just off Highway 7 and East US Highway 50, conveniently located between Lee’s Summit and Lake Lotawana. Step inside and you’ll feel transported back in time, with car- and Route 66–themed décor that creates a fun, nostalgic atmosphere throughout. The cottage comfortably accommodates families or groups, featuring two queen beds, one bunk bed, a full pull-out couch, and a twin pull-out loveseat—perfect for a close-knit getaway just outside the KC metro area. It also offers a wheelchair-accessible back entrance, along with an accessible kitchenette, dining area, bedrooms, bathroom, and living room. If you need wheelchair accommodations, just let us know in advance and we’ll make sure the metal curb ramp is set out and ready for your arrival. Set on private acreage, the property offers ample free parking right outside the house and a spacious yard ideal for games and gatherings. Next door, you’ll find a classic garage-turned “man cave” filled with Route 66–inspired relics. Guests are welcome to explore garage-finds and snap photos with the vintage cars while the owner is on-site for a truly memorable stay. This property backs up to open fields and a small forest, so wildlife is part of the experience. We frequently see deer and great horned owls, and recently a pair of owls nested in a tree near the back patio—offering rare glimpses of their owlets. You may also spot Bob the blacksnake, who enjoys basking in the sun while helping keep rodents in check around the surrounding farm fields. It’s a true getaway, conveniently located just off the highway. Other things to note The garage/man cave behind the house is used as a personal hobby space, so our family may be there from time to time working on projects. We’re always happy to chat about your stay, answer questions about the KC area, or show you around the collection of vintage relics. We also sometimes have our dog on-site—he’s well-trained and loves to play frisbee! While we do use the garage area, we do not use the cottage or the surrounding yard, so there’s no need to worry about shared spaces. Everything listed is private and exclusively yours during your stay.
