Description

Welcome to Jølster! This summer cottage is idyllically located on the waterfront at Jølstravatnet, with a stunning view. Enjoy late or active days in the immediate vicinity of both the sea and mountains. The outdoor area is large, and here you can enjoy long summer days, go out with the rowboat (included), swim in crystal clear water, try out SUP boards or kayak (which is also included). This is one of two cabins on the plot. Please let me know if you'd like to book both :) Note that there is some car noise from the road Welcome! The space English below. Her går det an å gå fem meter frå hyttedøra og kaste ut sluken. English The property: In front of the cabin you'll find what a dream of summer is made of; a lawn, perfect for daytime activities, preparing freshly caught trout for the barbeque, having meals by the waterfront, and trees with hammocks where you can get some rest from the sun, so can finally read that book you've been too busy to read for so long. A local old inhereted stone table is also a good place to enjoy the luxury of a local apple cider to toast to your holiday; a small cobblestone beach, providing an easy entry to the lake (for those daring enough to dip into the glacier infuse water), and which also makes entering the lake by boat, kayak, or SUP-board (all of which are included free of charge) a smooth and easy endeavour. On the property there are two cabins that will be rented out. This one is the largest one, and the other has room for two people. The outdoor ares is as such shared, and we expect you to share the ammeneties such as kayak, lawn, SUP and boat brotherly and kindly with your fellow vacationers. The patio is private. The property is situated right next to a car road, as such, noise from traffic must be anticipated The cabin: The cabin is originally a family heritage cabin, but it has been modernized with a new kitchen, furnitures and enlarged windows (for you to fully enjoy the stunning view), at the same time the traditional charm, local customs, and historical artefacts have been protected. There is a livingroom with a wooden fireplace, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a dining room. There are two bedrooms, where one has a bunkbed with room for two at the bottom (150 cm), and a another bedroom with a 120 cm bed. It is thus suitable for a family of 4, or a group of friends of the similar size. Activities and ammeneties: Included in the rental is one kayak, one stand up paddle board, and one rowing boat. For me personally, being able to go from the patio and into the lake in a matter of seconds is the biggest luxury of the property. These outdoor ameneties are shared between the two cabins, so if both cabins are booked, you will have to share brotherly. Jølstravatnet is also by some called the best trout fishing lake in Europe. Although stepping ten meters away from the doorstep and trying your luck is a luxury, we have some local tips that can guarantee you a fresh batch of trout for the wood fired barbecue or oven in the evening. The cabin is also situated in area with endless hikes close by. More than enough are available with no driving straight from the cabin, for at least a weeks worth of hiking. And if you are willing to drive your car for 20 minutes you'll be able to reach the most stunning of mountains, includes Jostedalsbreen (the largest mainland glacier of Europe). Our family has been keen mountain hikers in the area for generations, and we would love to share with you our favourites, and give advice on which mountains we believe would be the best for you. Toilet facilities: The running water in the cabin is due to a water pump that we have put in the lake. This means that the water is not regulated as drinking water, but we will provide sufficent drinking water for you prior to your arrival. The toilet is is a combustion toilet. But we also have running warm water for a shower and the sink (although the capacity is somewhat limited). The area: The house is right next (underneath) to a road (E39). This makes for an easy entrance, and has parking for four cars. There has been built a solid noise reduction to the road, but still there is quite some noise from traffic. From the cabin it is a four minute drive to Skei, where you can find a grocery store and other things. The house is a perfect basis for your holiday in the western part of Norway: You can get to the hike for Europes largest glacier by driving just 30 minutes. The famous Lodalsvatnet in just over an hour: Beautiful Fjærland in only 30 minutes. And the beach paradise Hoddevika in two and a half. Local delicacy stores with the finest produce in 30 minutes. And most importantly, an endless amount of beautiful hikes just outside the doorstep, or by a very short drive. And much much more! Again, we will be more than happy to help you plan out activities for you, to make sure you get the most out of this area that we love. We are very interested in being the best help to you during your stay; providing local knowledge of what to do, what to see and where to go, as well as make sure you get a fresh taste of the famous Jølstra trout if your luck in fishing turns out not very good.
