From its vast lakes to its themed trails, here are the main attractions and activities to discover. Highlights and panoramic views • The Preissac Observation Tower: Standing 20 meters high, this tower offers stunning panoramic views of Lake Preissac and Lake Chassignol. It is illuminated in blue after dark and offers views of protected heron colonies on the surrounding islands. • Roche du Millénaire Trail: A 1.6-kilometer (1 mile) trail through the boreal forest leading to an impressive 250-ton erratic boulder, deposited there by a glacier millennia ago. • Rapids Footbridge: Located near the Kinojévis River, this footbridge is a peaceful spot for walking and wildlife watching. • The Three Lakes Trail: This intermediate-level trail forms a 2.6-kilometer (1.6-mile) loop. It takes you to the highest point in Preissac, where a lookout offers spectacular views that encompass Lakes Preissac, LaPause, and Fontbonne at the same time. The trail winds through a dense boreal forest and allows visitors to appreciate the rugged topography that characterizes this part of Abitibi. Outdoor and water activities • Boating and Fishing: Lakes Preissac, Chassignol, and Fontbonne are renowned for the quality of their water and for fishing. You can hire boats (pontoon, rowboat, kayak, paddleboard) through Locations des 3 Lacs. • Hiking: In addition to the Roche Trail, the Trois Lacs Trail (2.6 km) leads to the highest point in the municipality, offering views of Lakes Preissac, Lapause, and Fontbonne. • Mountain biking: Around ten kilometers of well-maintained trails crisscross the boreal forest, with a starting point located near the observation tower. • Municipal beach: Located on the shores of Lake Preissac, it is ideal for a relaxing stopover or a family swim. Culture and Unique Experiences • Historical interpretation trail: This 1-kilometer (0.6-mile) route along the river to the village features historic buildings and signs describing the area's settlement in the 1930s. • Climbing: Camp de Base Abitibi offers training and guiding services for rock and ice climbing in the area. • Hiking: In addition to the municipal trails, many residents have created trails in the forest near their homes to enjoy nature with their furry friends. Everyone is welcome to use them. • Municipal beach: We have a lovely beach accessible via Chemin de la Montagne.
