The historic harbor is 200 meters away. In addition, our small, cozy downtown area can be reached within a 3-minute walk. There you will find bakeries, an ice cream parlor, the tourist information office and the Tönninger Bücherei. You will also find doctors and a pharmacy downtown. Right around the corner is also the castle park, which invites you to take a walk and attend various events, such as our traditional ring riding and other nice festivities. Within 10 minutes you can reach our Grünbade beach, where you can find the heated outdoor pool. The Multimar Wattforum in Tönning offers natural science background and has all the information you can learn about our Wadden Sea. When it comes to dining, Tönning has a lot to offer you: with fish restaurants, an Italian restaurant, the Weingarten and the organic restaurant Miiriamar, you have everything you need. At the nearby ferry terminal, you can take interesting ferry trips directly from Tönning, such as a trip to the seal banks, a trip through the Eider Barrage or a fishing trip guided by the National Park Office. Within 20 minutes you can reach St. Peter-Ording, with its endless sandy beach, as well as the Theodor-Storm city of Husum by car. Heide and Büsum can also be reached within this time. In addition, the former Dutch town of Friedrichstadt is 10 km away and invites you to take a canal cruise on the Eider and Treene.
