Hana Hou Cabin-Motel provides an opportunity to relax and enjoy your stay in a small town in rural Hawai'i, on the Big Island. Located adjacent to the Hana Hou Restaurant, you will not have to worry about cooking or searching for a great meal. The cabins are located midway between Kona and Hilo, in the Ka'u District. Remember you are behind a popular working restaurant and there is noise..You are in the country so you will hear birds and chickens . This is a rural motel in a small town ..not a vacation condo..but the beds are comfy ..the rooms are clean and the water is hot. We are air conditioning free and use the open window, fans and the nice breeze to make us comfortable. If noise is an issue for you perhaps consider an upgrade to our larger cabin situated farther from the restaurant kitchen. It has the same amenities. Take advantage of staying in a town that is located in the vicinity of various places of interest, which all exude the meaning of, 'Old Hawai'i'. Ka Lae (South Point), The Green Sand Beach and Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, are amongst a few of the unspoiled coastlines here in Ka'u. Sprawling ranch lands, mountain hiking, the famous Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and the new southern section of Kahuku are only a drive away. Explore lava tubes, snorkel, tour a coffee farm or the volcano winery and buy from the source. Ka'u is the perfect eco-tourist destination , and the cabin-motel is perfect for an overnight stay when visiting the volcano. Eliminate the long drive back to Kona or Hilo and visit the other sights in Kau the next day. Each cabin has a private bathroom with a shower and toiletries. There is a lovely private yard for you to enjoy lounging in the morning sunshine or relax in the cool Ka'u breeze that flows throughout the day. Grab some breakfast from our restaurant and dine in the Gazebo out back. Meet some of the friendly folks that call Na'alehu their home as well as our hospitable restaurant staff. Each cabin is equipped with a brand new queen size bed, fresh linens and fluffy pillows. For your convenience we also provide a small refrigerator, tea maker and a Keurig coffee maker, with coffee and sugar. Special rates for longer stays are available. There is a bar down the street and grocery available near by at the gas station or in Ocean View.A public bus can be had in Naalehu morn and afternoons. Its called the Hele On Bus and the schedule is on the internet. Hana Hou Restaurant hours are 8 am-7pm.We do have live local music Fri and Sat eves 6 to 8 pm QUIET TIME is 9:30 pm-7 am. Smoking outdoors only. We accept Visa, MasterCard or Cash. Rentals are subject to 14.25% tax. Please feel free to use back yard but remember to be courteous as Cabin 2 windows face the yard. The ladies at the restaurant will be able to help you if you need anything. Small rural town on southern tip of Big Island Hawaii. There are lots of outdoor adventures here . A one day trip to Kalae the most southern point in the country is a must and after checking out the Point then head to Green Sand Beach. Access includes a two mile hike along seashore or thru pasture land to the most blue water and olivine green sand. An easy climb down the hill takes you to the beautiful cove and amazing sand. Be sure to take your camers, lots of water and maybe a snack and sunblock and enjoy your day . The next day you may want to hike the mountains at the Kahuku Section of the Volcanoes National Park or enjoy a lazy day at the Black Sand beach or Whittington Park with its shady trees and tide pools. Also Kawa Beach which is a short hike in also has great tide pools , a fresh water pond and a rocky beach . Lots of locals go there to surf. A person could easily spend a couple of relaxing days just exploring the "unbeaten" path. The town closes up early but OceanView about 12 miles toward Kona has a restaurant Kai Loki's that offers a bar and grill until eight. Breakfast of course at Hana Hou is included in your rental package. We also have espresso and fresh baked goodies and homemade food. If you are looking for something a bit different than a resort this is it. You'll enjoy your stay with us . you will need a car for sure The Studio is located across the courtyard from the restaurant and can be a little noisy until about 8 pm . Workers arrive at 7 for work . This ois not usually a problem as guests usually get going early here in Hawaii. If you need a quieter space consider the Motel Suite which offers a little more room and it is quieter.
