Self-contained boutique converted cart lodge

One of our 2 boutique, self-contained rooms set in the grounds of a Grade II listed cottage in the heart of Ashdon village, 10 mins away from Saffron Walden and 30 mins from Cambridge. Surrounded by beautiful countryside with lovely local walks & places of interest. A warm welcome at the village pub. Spacious converted cart lodge. A secluded getaway with private entrance. Comfy super king can be set as twin. We provide a continental breakfast with homemade sourdough, yoghurt and compote. The space A unique converted cart-lodge in the Essex barn style. Upstairs, there's a large bedroom with a super-comfy double bed (that can also be configured as 2 singles if requested). 2 easy chairs and coffee table and a breakfast area with table and chairs. The table could also be used as a small workspace for business guests. Breakfast is provided - we supply home-made muesli, granola, sourdough bread, compotes and jams along with yoghurt and milk and plenty of tea and coffee. We can cater for various gluten-free or vegan guest - just let us know your requirements in advance. A kettle, toaster and fridge are in the room, along with a small table and chairs to eat at. The modern and large bathroom is downstairs with a sink, toilet and walk-in shower. Heated towel rails keep your supplied towels nice and warm, There is access to the garden, treehouse and plenty of nice walks around the area and we are close to both Saffron Walden and Cambridge. The listed cottage dates back to the 19th century and is set in large, well maintained gardens. Ashdon is a small village in North Essex, with the lovely market town of Saffron Walden on the doorstep and lots of small villages, country pubs and sights to see and explore in the area. Our local pub, The Rose and Crown (5 mins walk) has a delicious menu. Serving food from Wednesday - Sunday. In the next village of Bartlow, the award winning pub The Three Hill offers a fabulous country welcome with a high end menu and a great beer garden. Cambridge is a short drive away and it's also a great place to stay if you have an early start at Stansted airport - it's only 40 mins drive from Ashdon. There are several National Trust and English Heritage properties within easy reach, a local vineyard offering tours and tastings, and art galleries and places of interest all around. We're happy to offer suggestions when you arrive of places to visit and restaurants and pubs to eat in. Apple Tree View is completely self-contained, with its own entrance, bedroom and bathroom. There are no inside shared spaces, making it an ideal getaway. We have a large garden and there are plenty of walks in the area, please do take advantage of these green spaces. Guest access The whole space is yours to come and go as you want during your stay. It's completely self-contained with your own locked entrance. if you're staying more than one night, we'll come in to refresh breakfast materials and clear any washing up. You will have access to the garden and let us know in advance if you'd like to head up into the treehouse. Other things to note At present, pets are not allowed in the property. The property and grounds are strictly non-smoking. We also have electric car charging facilities available - charged separately. Please contact us for details.
