Villa Nostalgia is a modern villa that is perfect for either families or couples who would like a rural setting with incomparable sea views and sunsets, but would also like to be only a few minutes away from the beach, tavernas, shops and other amenities. Located on a hillside just above the village of Plaka, the villa has absolutely stunning panoramic views of Souda Bay, The Akrotiri Peninsula, the Turkish Castle at Aptera, The White Mountains, and acres of olive groves. The interior of the villa is particularly comfortable but we are sure that you will want to spend most of your time outdoors in order to enjoy the wonderful views. There is a choice of sun or shade on the many outdoor areas, which are fully equipped with tables and chairs, sun-beds and umbrellas, and a built-in BBQ. There are individual balconies off the twin bedrooms, the pool terrace, and the spacious upstairs sun terrace which is perhaps the best place from which to marvel at the the glorious sunsets. Villa Nostalgia is set just above another villa but has its own pool and private parking area. The owners are a welcoming local couple who have taken great care in furnishing and decorating the villa. There are natural coloured floor tiles throughout the villa, comfortable leather couches in the living room, dark mahogany furniture in all of the bedrooms, and natural wood cupboards and bookshelves in the kitchen. The warm coloured draperies and textiles in the villa give the house a lovely friendly feeling. All modern comforts are available at Villa Nostalgia, including Free WIFI internet access, satellite TV, DVD and CD players, dishwasher and washing machine, mosquito screens on all the windows, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights at the start and end of the season. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater. Villa Nostalgia has extra large water storage tanks to ensure that the villa never runs out of water during our long hot summers. Plaka village square is only 1.1kms from Villa Nostalgia and is an easy 10 minute walk. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets just off the mulberry tree lined square. The modern outskirts of the village have expanded recently as have the facilities, which now include 7 tavernas, an excellent Italian restaurant, 3 well stocked mini markets, a cash machine, and 6 cafes. 3 of these cafes are just a short five minute walk from the villa. Villa Nostalgia is just 5 minutes by car to the lovely village of Almyrida which is built around a crescent shaped sandy beach and has many shops, tavernas, cafes, a scuba diving office, a water sports centre which rents out windsurfers, kayaks, and catamarans. We will give you information where you can get private boat hire, boat trips, big game fishing, horse riding, private sightseeing flights in a light aircraft, and guided walking tours or coach excursions. EOT (Greek Tourist Board) LIcense Number: MHTE 10 42 E 60 62 01110 01 *** As of January 01, 2024, the Greek government have replaced the old “bed tax” with a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters. The owners of all short-term rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows: In 2024: €10.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29. In 2025: €15.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29. The Vrbo system does not have a section for collecting the Climate Resilience Levy and we have, therefore, had to add it to the billing section as an extra fee which will show on the booking as a Host Fee or an Administrative Fee. Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.
