"Douglas" unusual log cabin in the heart of Auvergne nature
Housed in the hollow of a valley, the "Bétula" lodging of Fustes in Pays du Mézenc is a log chalet with green roof entirely built by Johane in the purest Scandinavian style. A log is a dwelling built in barrels (tree trunks), cut and adjusted by hand by the fustier, so that each one perfectly follows the irregular shapes of the one preceding it, thus forming a solid and waterproof wall. After building his own log house, Johane embarked on the creation of 2 lodgings (Epicéa in 2012 and Bétula in 2017) in order to welcome holidaymakers and introduce them to the region where he grew up. Respect for nature and sustainable development are the watchwords of this neat house, a real cocoon of well-being in the Mézenc region. With its partially sheltered wooden terrace (17 m²) facing south, it will be the ideal refuge for your holidays in the great outdoors (4000 m² of wooded land available). Entirely laid out on one level, the entire log house revolves around a living room with kitchen area and lounge area with wood stove (wood provided free of charge). The cottage has a double bedroom (1 160x200 bed) and a triple bedroom (3 90x200 beds, one on the mezzanine). The bathroom with toilet and walk-in shower completes this warm layout. Loan of snowshoes and mountain bikes / hybrid bikes. Baby equipment on request: bed, high chair, bathtub. Nearby: trout fishing at 500 m, small shops (local products) and services at Fay-sur-Lignon (2.2 km), Haute-Ardèche at 3 km, Nordic skiing and snow activities at Les Estables at 24 km, Nordic activities in Meygal, Mont Gerbier de Jonc at 35 km, Le Puy-en-Velay and its listed heritage at 37 km.
