Description

Chilton Chine Cabin / Chalet offers the ultimate getaway in the stunning ‘Back of the Wight’ heritage coastline, designated AONB. Secluded enough for privacy, it is the perfect rural escape & an excellent base for a walking or cycling break. 3min walk to a quiet beach & a few mins cycle to the picturesque village of Brighstone & neighbouring hamlets. With historic buildings & country pubs, you couldn’t be better positioned to discover the most attractive part of the IoW. Full kitchen facilities. The space Ferry discount codes may be available for the dates you wish to stay. Please enquire. The cabin has a 22 ft x 15 ft total inside area which offers ample floor space for the additional memory foam z-bed or fold out sofa next to the double bed & available for a child or chum in the main room which is in a country cottage design. ( If you prefer a bit of privacy there is actually room in the carpeted kitchen diner to sleep if needs be.) The toilet / shower room is en-suite. You can see there is a porch to sit out on which is lovely to enjoy the view of the woodland & down land meadows in the really calm surroundings. The cabin is heated if needed in the Autumn & early Spring using either the 'Ladybird' log burner (for which a sack of logs & kindling will be provided - extra sacks are £5,) or the portable oil filled radiator & safety design electric heater. Potentially you could sleep 2 adults with 2 children using the temporary beds. There is a hook up for a camper van which can be parked to the side of the cabin & /or room for a small tent should children want to camp out! (2 man max.) If a tent is pitched this incurs an additional fee of £10 cash per night. The external hook up is £10 extra per day used. This additional payment would need to be made direct to the host on arrival. Guest access Chilton Chine Cabin is all yours to use, with the land surrounding it to sit out on. You won't have any immediate neighbors! There are no defined boundaries on the ground but the areas to the sides, back and front are for the exclusive enjoyment of those staying in the cabin. In reality no body uses the field lawn further out in front of the cabin as it is private so children are free to play there - just bear in mind the farmer mows every fortnight & occasionally a farm vehicle trundles by along with the odd cyclists or walker. A short walk across the coast road you will find a coffee shop within Isle of Wight Pearl which also serves hot food (including breakfast/brunch from 10 am) while inland are multiple footpaths to the chalk down land & Brighstone forest. The coastal footpath heading East & West is 3 mins dawdling walk away, the beach only 4 mins. The hamlets of Mottistone with the National Trust manor & ancient church and Hulverstone with its country pub may tempt you away from fossil hunting off Hanover Point. Either way coming back to ‘Chilton Chine Cabin' will be a pleasure. Other things to note There is a good mobile signal but no dedicated internet in the cabin itself. However you can pick up the net with your mobile data switched on. The cabin is situated in the corner of open plan rented grass land with tree shade to one side & a rarely used footpath / track running past approx 20 meters away. This runs from the main coastal Military Road approx 100 m to the South & joins Chilton Lane 200 m inland. Visitors can sit out around the cabin, play games, (badminton raquets, football, frisby, boules - similiar to Petanque / bowls, all supplied in the cabin - tennis courts up the lane available at a small charge payable at Chilton Farm house,) and have a contained bbq - obviously being careful - and we ask that noise levels are kept down late in the evening. There is a small stream a few meters behind the cabin which is rather nice as it attracts wildlife - there are feeders and boxes used by robins and various songbirds and on occasion I've seen stoats, a weasel, a fox and rabbits - but be careful not to fall in! Listed as suitable for infants under 2 in so far as there is no objection but if a cot or high chair is needed it would need to be brought with you. Also please remember this is a wooden building so no unattended candles. (You won't need them to enhance the atmosphere anyway! :-) ) Most importantly of all if you are unsure how to operate the log burner in any way please stick to the electric heating. It is quite basic to use however, the main rules being 1) In no circumstance leave the door of the stove open when it is burning 2) don't leave the cabin for any length of time while it is still burning and 3) Do not put water on the fire to extinguish it as such rapid temperature change will damage the cast iron. I will go through the basics with guests when they arrive. It is a lovely feature it has to be said. 1 basket full of logs is provided (along with kindling and newspaper,) for the stove. Further sacks of logs are charged at £5 each. TOTALLY SEPARATE details apply December - February with reduced rates for interested adaptable persons!....The cabin is available through the Winter but it is with reduced water services....ie Mains water is available from a tap at the end of the small meadow but is switched off in the cabin itself so filled taped water containers are provided & for you rustic glam campers out there the toilet is flushed using the cabin rain water butts ...Still people have very much enjoyed their stays in the Winter with mains electric still on and the wonderful log burner!
