The Old Cow Shed

Description

Set on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Wadhurst (voted Best Place to Live 2023 by The Sunday Times) is the cozy, self contained and lovingly converted Old Cow Shed. Time to Unwind with amazing walks from your doorstep across the Sussex countryside, Bewl water, or nearby National Trust sites; followed by great meal at one of the excellent village pubs (only 10mins walk); finishing off with a glass of wine curled up in front of the Log Fire. Only 1mile to train station. The space The Old Cow Shed has been sympathetically converted into a loving and cozy space ideal for a couple wanting weekend retreat away in the countryside. It is a truly picturesque setting looking out over the lake, and with far reaching views, but still only a 10min walk to Wadhurst village high street (voted Best Place to Live in the UK 2023 by The Sunday Times) with various shops, cafes and award winning local Pubs. And only 10mins walk from Wadhurst Castle if you are attending a wedding there. The Old Cow Shed is perfect for walking and exploring the local Sussex countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From your doorstep you can walk to Bewl Water reservoir, Wadhurst deer park, Scotney Castle, Bayham Abbey ruins or just immerse yourself in the rolling Sussex hills. Bedgebury with its cycle paths and Go Ape approx 4 miles away, Dale Hill Golf course 4 miles away and Rye and Camber Sands a 45min drive. The Spa town of Tunbridge Wells with its numerous bars, shops and facilities is 6miles way. There are numerous National Trust properties such as Bateman’s, Bodium Castle, Scotney Castle and Sissinghurst Castle all nearby. We are 1mile from the station with direct link to Charing Cross or London Bridge (50 mins away). The Old Cow Shed is a completely self contained annex, with its own entrance, set to one side from the main house. There is a small kitchen with fridge, hot plate, microwave, toaster and kettle, but not a full oven. There is a toilet and shower room. It’s has its own WiFi router with very high speed internet. There is a large double bedroom with Double bed, including high thread count Egyptian cotton bedding, and towels provided. The large sitting room has a stunning inglenook fireplace with working Log Fire, swing chair and large sofa. The sofa folds down backwards allowing for a full size additional double bed that is extremely comfortable if wanting to allow to cater for 2 children or possibly 1-2 more guests. The Cow Shed is a unique and cozy place to stay for a romantic retreat for a couple, a get away for a family of 4, or 3 adults meeting up. However, we not feel there is enough room for 4 adults. Sorry no dogs! Guest access The Old Cow Shed is set to one side of the main Farmhouse, guests are kindly requested to ask if wanting to access the gardens. Please note there is a lake on the grounds that we kindly request guests do not enter for safety reasons, and caution should be advised especially any guest coming with small children. There is safe, private parking on the driveway, and separate private access. The Old Cow Shed is not wheelchair accessible. Other things to note There is no washing machine or tumble dryer but happy to put on a load for you for a small fee.
