Welcome to Mainstay Cottage! A private waterfront getaway ideally located between Bar Harbor/Acadia and Schoodic. This cozy, well-stocked home provides ample space to relax and recharge in a quintessential Downeast Maine setting. The space Sleeping Arrangements: Upstairs: 1. Primary bedroom - spacious bedroom with a king bed and en-suite bath, a jacuzzi tub with handheld shower, cozy wood-burning stove, and a private deck. 2. Second bedroom - two full beds and one single (full over full bunk bed and twin trundle - note: max weight capacity 200lbs on top bunk). 3. Sitting area—the twin "window seat" nook provides a cozy place to sleep with the best view in the house, perfect for curling up with a book and a cup of tea! Downstairs: 4. The "Fireplace room" doubles as a living room and third bedroom, with two single beds (daybed with trundle) and a double pullout couch. It has a door, providing privacy, and is a favorite place to sleep! Other Spaces: *Kitchen - fully stocked with everything you need to enjoy cooking at home (oils, spices, lobster pots, blender, mixer, pie plates, etc.) * Full bathroom - on the main floor, behind the kitchen. Towels, body wash, and shampoo/conditioner are provided. *Dining - kitchen breakfast table, a dining table/game table in the dining room, and an outdoor patio table overlooking the bay. *Outdoor - There are multiple ways to unwind and enjoy a true Downeast Maine experience: an Outdoor Solo Stove fire pit, hammock, egg chair swing, outdoor games, outdoor chairs for the upper deck, and kayaks (3 single, 1 double). *Basement- Kids of all ages can enjoy the game space in the basement, with basketball, mini pool/table tennis and darts. *Location - The house is near the end of Taunton Bay, with beautiful and dramatic landscapes that change with the tides. While Acadia National Park is a well-known attraction, there are infinite other options to explore within 20 minutes of the house (see area guides). Please note: Unlike other Airbnbs, this is not just a business but a beloved vacation home as well. The decor is an eclectic mix of personal items, antiques, and fun trinkets picked up along the way. It is well-stocked with everything you may need for a comfortable "home away from home" stay. The owner's residence is above the detached garage, and guests have exclusive access to the house, yard, kayaks, and game room during their stay. Please reach out with any questions!
