Cottage on a Farm (no children)
A roomy guest cottage on a 15 acre farm, with large windows to watch the animals. Awake to roosters crowing, collect eggs for breakfast, even milk a goat into your morning coffee! Our large guest cottage sleeps two comfortably and adjoins our 15 acre farm with over 100 friendly, free roaming animals. The cottage has a large bedroom with king size bed, a full bath, large living room with large windows overlooking the farm, as well as a fully equipped kitchen which has basic cooking equipment, such as pots, pans, plates and utensils. There's plenty to do in the local area: walk 10 mins to our general store by a waterfall, hike up Walnut Mountain, take our kayaks out in Swan Lake, fish, swim, visit the secret Gorge nearby, or just nap with a goat in the shade. Oh and be sure to search YouTube for R-5Ou7OZHcQ to enjoy a great vid of the farm in summer. The entire farm is accessible to guests. Nothing is off limits, just please don't leave plastic bags out, or the animals might eat them. I'll show you where to park, give a quick farm tour, show you the cottage and then give you your privacy. Guests are welcome to join me for feeding and milking at sun up and sun down. Swan Lake is quiet most of the year, and only bustles when the summer tourists arrive in late June. The main lake is quite large, beautiful and has a dam and waterfall at its south end. Just 3 miles to our north is Walnut Mountain, with great trails to its 2,400 ft peak and 100 mile view. Just 6 miles to our south is Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. It is now a large concert venue as well as the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Its best to drive here, but there is a bus into Liberty, as well as Monticello, and a train into Middletown. I can pick you up at these stations for $1/mile from the farm. There will be flies and other bugs here. If you have allergies, a farm may not be the place for you. No refunds will be given for allergic reactions to the farm. The cottage washing machine is acting unreliable right now, so we have removed it from our offerings. If you must do laundry during your stay here, please ask to use our washing machine. Please don't forget to bring your own TOWELS, ours seem to leave quickly. Firewood is provided for campfires, but please burn only what you must. Please let your fire burn out completely rather than putting water on it. To use the canoe and kayak on the main lake, find the paddles and key near our main gate, then find our "boat trail", 30 feet to the right of our black mailbox. Follow this trail down to the lake, and find the kayak and canoe locked to a tree. Paddle south to the general store, or north, under Kelly Bridge, into another part of Swan Lake. Please lock up the boats after use and return the paddles and key to the place you found them.
