Upper Snape Cottage is situated in the beautiful Calder Valley. Built in 1667 and “Grade II” listed by Historic England, it retains a wealth of character with many period features. The Cottage offers a quiet, cosy retreat where you can unwind and relax. Nestled in the heart of a hillside farming community yet close to the bustling market towns of Hebden Bridge and Halifax. The Cottage is only 40 minutes from the cities of Leeds and Manchester. The space The Cottage offers a lovely sitting room with views over the garden and countryside beyond. The fully equipped large kitchen-diner is perfect for family dining and entertaining. Adjacent are downstairs cloak and utility rooms, well equipped with a washing machine, dryer, freezer and an extra fridge. Wood burning stoves are available in both the dining area and sitting room where you can relax in comfort in front of a real fire. Upstairs comprises of 2 double bedrooms plus a twin-bedded room. One of the double bedrooms enjoys its own en-suite shower room. A family bathroom includes both shower and bath and is accessed from the landing area. We welcome families and can provide a travel cot and highchair on request. The cottage has WiFi & an internet enabled TV should you wish to enjoy your favourite Netflix series (own account required). A selection of books and board games are also provided for your enjoyment. The cottage is pet friendly and welcomes well behaved dogs which we request are kept downstairs and off furniture please. No cats are allowed to accompany guests. Dogs must be on their lead within the cottage grounds, as sheep, cows, horses and chickens are likely to be in adjacent fields. There are plenty of fabulous dog walks straight from the cottage. If you are bringing pets please include them on the booking form as there is an additional fee to cover extra cleaning. A shared drive offers access to The Cottage, where a stone cobbled area in-front of the Cottage can provide parking for up to three cars. Please note…we do not offer facilities for the charging of electric vehicles. The nearest charging point is located at Tescos supermarket in Sowerby Bridge which is a 10 minute drive away. Other things to note We welcome cyclists and are on a national cycling route, as well as being only a few minutes drive from the 2014 Tour de France route and the formidable Cragg Vale Incline - the longest continuous gradient in England climbing 968 feet over 5.5 miles. We can assist with cycle storage and carry tools and inflators. Please note, the charging of electric vehicles is not permitted at Upper Snape Cottage. The nearest place to charge an electric vehicle is located at Tescos supermarket car park in Sowerby Bridge, approximately a 7 minute drive away.
