Description
The Gardener's Cottage is a delightful, newly renovated retreat with private garden. Set in the grounds of a Queen Anne Rectory, it has 17th Century charm with the convenience & comfort of modern fittings. We are on the Ridgeway, in a picturesque rural setting. We have a second cottage if you are looking for something a bit different. https://www.airbnb.com/h/old-rectorycottages The space An extremely comfortable home from home with open plan kitchen-dining-sitting room on the ground floor, and upstairs a dual aspect master bedroom, single bedroom and luxury bathroom. It is accessed via its own separate garden and front door. Many of the original features have been retained. There is oak flooring throughout. Whilst the Gardener's Cottage was built in the 17th Century it has been fully renovated and is more fully described below. Kitchen The kitchen has a Nespresso Coffee Machine; Induction Hob and Oven; Dishwasher; large Fridge Freezer; Microwave; Toaster and granite work surfaces. It contains a full range of kitchen items - whether you only wish to warm something up or cook a full Sunday roast. Dining The scrubbed pine table can easily accommodate four people. Sitting There is a three seater sofa (which converts into an extra bed) and an arm chair. There is WiFi and a SmartTV with Netflix etc. Bathroom A major feature of the cottage is the glorious double ended bath - one of the deepest and comfiest we've come across and perfect for relaxing by candlelight. There is a separate shower. To ensure maximum comfort there are warm fluffy towels and underfloor heating. Master Bedroom A King sized bed with lots of pillows, a deep mattress topper and fabulous bed linen. The bedroom is vaulted and has windows to the East and West giving you morning and evening sunshine & views over the garden and countryside. There are drawers and hanging. Single Bedroom This is set up as a kid's room with a small single bed, books, toys and desk. There is room for a travel cot (which we can provide if required), but it is not a big room. The curtains are black-out and there is a stair gate for the top of the stairs. We have a high chair too if required. Outside The Gardener's Cottage has its own private garden with well stocked cottage garden beds, a lawn, terrace and outdoor seating. In the main garden there is a climbing frame, swings, slides, trampoline and acres of space. For those with an electric vehicle, we have a 3 pin-socket adjacent to the parking that can be accessed for charging on an honesty basis. For those with bigger kids we have a large tree house in the woods - with four zip-wires - graded green, blue, red & black (for those that dare!) - a climbing tree & a fire pit. Hours of fun!! Guest access The Gardener's Cottage has its own private garden for you to sit outside. However, the Old Rectory has extensive gardens with a tennis court and table tennis. Do ask if you would like to use them. We are set in 18 acres and recognised by Natural England for our species rich grassland - with wildflower meadows, a small woodland and rare butterflies. You are welcome to explore. Kites nest in the garden - badgers and muntjac abound. An owl fell down our chimney! If you love wildlife - you are in the right place. Other things to note The Gardener's Cottage sleeps 3 adults and a child comfortably. The space is pretty flexible. Some adults may be happy in the kid's room. Or for the adventurous - we have a sleeping platform accessed by a ladder. Please contact us for more information. If you would like to sleep an additional child, we can either provide a travel cot, or camp bed depending on your requirements. There is parking on site and lockable space if you have bikes. We have a dog, goats, cats - sometimes kittens. We have ducks which frequent the garden and have been known to arrive on the doorstep of the cottage! They are all extremely friendly, but if you are a bit nervous, please just let us know in advance. Because we have animals on site we are not currently able to accommodate dogs. If you have wet clothes to dry - a puncture to mend - a tennis racket to borrow - please just ask. We want your stay to be perfect.
