To the south of the High Street lies the picturesque thatched Old Village with its pubs, tearooms and gift shops. Near to the Old Village is Shanklin Chine, a natural wooded gorge, and Rylstone Gardens, a relaxing park with crazy golf and tea gardens in a flower filled setting. The long safe sandy beach is on a lower level. One can walk, use the lift or drive down from town to seafront.
