Description

Nguni Cottage is our luxury lake facing cottage located near Nottingham Road. Here you can find dams for boating and bass fishing, a tennis court and 25ha of indigenous forest! This rural smallholding farm with Nguni Cows and retired horses has a significant history from the 1840's and gives you the chance to experience the true peace and tranquillity of the countryside, but yet is very central to top restaurants, golf courses, wedding venues and schools. The farm is on solar power. The space This spacious cottage has a large bedroom and full bathroom with a fully equipped kitchen and spacious sitting area with lovely views overlooking the top dam and surrounded by a large deep verandah. The cottage is perfect for those wanting to really relax and enjoy the country life. It overlooks a beautiful dam where you can enjoy some bass fishing on a catch and release basis, a bit of boating and canoeing or even some swimming! The wood-burning fireplace in the sitting room is perfect for those chilly Midlands evenings as the mist rolls in and the red wine beckons! The cottage has gas and solar so there is no chance of inconvenience with load shedding! The cottage offers a wonderful place for families and friends to meet and share time together. There is a 2 bedroom cottage located next door which works well if you are a larger family group and want to rent both cottages. There are also other cottages and rooms, which would suit larger groups. Newstead Farm exudes charm and elegance, and a significant history that dates back to the late 1840s. A rural smallholding, with horses, pastures and a 700-tree plum orchard, this is a small piece of heaven in a lush and indigenous valley close to some of the top golf courses, restaurants and forest walks in the country. It's country living that is so good for the soul but, unlike so many other true country escapes, doesn’t require a degree in off-road driving to access! We are close to the many wedding venues around Curry's Post and Nottingham Road. It is a working farm with cows, horses, two energetic "Jack Sausage" dogs, chickens and plum trees. On the hotter days enjoy a swim in the dam or a picnic on the lawns. We have a tennis court for those of you that wish to be more energetic! There are some lovely walks and excellent mountain biking routes directly from the farm. The property includes a 25 hectare indigenous forest for walking and exploring. Gowrie Golf Course and Bosch Hoek Golf Course are close by. Guest access You have the entire cottage and nearby lawns to yourself. You are also welcome to explore the farm and surrounding forest, but would request that you not enter our private house area. There is plenty of parking near the cottage and we can accommodate a boat, caravan or trailer. Other things to note This is a working farm, so the area can sometimes be muddy and wet. There are cows and horses in the nearby paddocks. There is open water on the farm. We are in the heart of the Midlands Meander - close to Balgowan, Curry's Post and Nottingham Road. We would suggest that you have a car to get around and explore the best of the Midlands Meander. The farm runs on solar.
