Description

The Kalòs B&B is located in the heart of the historic center of Bova, a place where time seems to have stopped, keeping the Greek-Calabrian cultural and food and wine traditions intact. This typical, recently renovated turret house offers an authentic and immersive experience in Greek Calabria, with the possibility of exploring the Aspromonte National Park and its UNESCO Geopark, as well as enjoying the beauty of the sea. The property has four private rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, independent air conditioning/heating, mini-fridge, hairdryer and WIFI. Three of the rooms share common areas, including a breakfast table and a charming terrace with sea views, while the fourth room, located on the ground floor, offers a separate entrance and a small square with a pergola for breakfast. The base price is calculated per room/night for two people. When staying at the Kalòs B&B, guests can receive suggestions for itineraries, excursions and walks, experiencing unique emotions and taking with them the scents, landscapes and stories of an authentic and welcoming land. The space The charm of this ancient Greek village transports the visitor back in time, evoking the era of 19th-century travelers to discover unexplored and silent places. The toponymy in English, German, Italian and Greek of Calabria guides the visitor through historic buildings, ancient churches, the Giudecca, the remains of the castle, and the medieval tower. The village is home to the Museum of the Language of the Greeks of Calabria, dedicated to the linguist Gerhard Rohlfs, and the Museum of Paleontology and Natural Sciences of Aspromonte. The Path of Peasant Civilization offers breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, while rocks such as the Grotta degli Innamorati are set in the landscape. The local stone streets, once traveled by Edward Lear and Norman Douglas, tell stories of the Grand Tour. At nightfall, the warm lights of the street lamps illuminate the village like ancient lanterns, inviting tourists to find a cozy place to rest and refresh. Guest access The B&B is located in a self-contained house, guaranteeing guests their privacy. Each room is private and has an en-suite bathroom. Guests in the three bedrooms can enjoy the common areas of the B&B, including a breakfast table and a terrace. The fourth bedroom offers a unique experience, with a private square equipped with a pergola for relaxation and breakfast, overlooking the village. Staying in the Kalòs B&B, guests will come into contact with the biodiversity and unspoiled nature of the Aspromonte National Park, as well as immerse themselves in the cultural identity of the Greeks of Calabria, a linguistic minority that speaks the language of Homer, enriched by traditions, food and wine, music and culture. During your stay Dear guest, welcome to Bova in our B&B "Kalòs", a name that in Calabrian Greek means "BEAUTIFUL". "Kalòs ìrtete stin Chora" translates to "Welcome to the Chora", referring to the most important city in the Grecanica Area, Bova. Here, the guest is considered sacred, a tradition that is part of our history. In Bova, the stranger is seen as a Greek god in disguise, similar to a god of Olympus, the mountain sacred to the Greeks. From our B&B, you can admire Mount Etna, which sometimes appears snow-covered and other times smoking. We are delighted to have you as our guest and to let you discover "filoxenia", the love of strangers. With us, you will explore an ancient culture, a language, a history and the wonders of Bova and the Aspromonte National Park. But above all, you will appreciate the hospitality of the Greeks of Calabria, ensuring that our land will remain in your heart and that you will tell the whole world about your trip. We wish you a pleasant stay, "Good things", which in Greek from Calabria is called "calapràmata". Alessandra and family Other things to note Guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and nature of the Greek Aspromonte. The host will offer support by suggesting itineraries, trekking and nature walks in the Aspromonte National Park, as well as cultural visits in the Villages of Greek Calabria, to be explored independently or with Official Park Guides. The Park, a candidate to become a UNESCO Global Geopark, was established according to Law 394/1991, which protects protected areas. This natural heritage is characterized by physical, geological, geomorphological and biological formations of great environmental value. Within the Park there are animal and plant species, geological and paleontological formations, unique biodiversity, natural landscapes, and delicate hydraulic, hydrogeological and ecological balances.
