The space ABOUT THIS SPACE El Panecillo Suite, named after Quito’s iconic hill crowned by La Virgen de Quito, is a spacious and independent suite within Casa LunaLoma — a lovingly restored 100-year-old colonial residence located in the heart of La Loma Grande, one of Quito’s most historic and character-filled neighborhoods adjacent to the Historic Center. From Casa LunaLoma, guests enjoy unobstructed views of La Virgen de Quito, the city’s beloved winged statue and one of the most emblematic landmarks of the capital. Each suite within the house has its own unique personality and charm, while all share the warmth, soul, and timeless spirit of this historic family home. El Panecillo Suite offers approximately 850 square feet of thoughtfully curated living space for two to three guests and is located on the first floor of the residence. It is an ideal retreat for travelers seeking an immersive cultural experience while exploring Quito and the rich landscapes of Ecuador. LIVING ROOM El Panecillo delicately balances contemporary comfort with traditional colonial character. Upon entering the suite, six windows overlooking the peaceful inner courtyard fountain fill the space with natural light, while warm cedar hardwood floors create a cozy and grounding atmosphere. After a day exploring the city, guests can unwind beside the fireplace or settle into the built-in reading nooks perfect for journaling, reading, or planning the next day’s adventures. Firewood is provided for your first evening, with additional bundles available upon request. Experience the spirit of Quito through our curated collection of original Quiteño music on the vintage record player, which also functions as a Bluetooth speaker. The suite includes reliable high-speed WiFi and a Smart TV with access to your preferred streaming platforms. DINING ROOM & KITCHEN The dining area is designed for both intimate meals and everyday living, featuring a rotating dining table that also functions as a kitchen island. The kitchen is fully equipped for both short and extended stays, with a refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, washer and dryer, and all essential cookware and dining pieces. Custom cabinetry throughout the suite was handcrafted to reflect the original colonial character of Casa LunaLoma. BEDROOM The bedroom may be arranged as either one king bed or two twin beds depending on your preference. Please let us know your preferred configuration before arrival. Guests will find hotel-quality cotton bedding, plush down comforters selected for Quito’s cool evenings, extra blankets, and a space heater for additional warmth when needed. The suite also includes generous storage, built-in shelving, a closet, under-bed drawers, and a dedicated workspace for guests working remotely. SHARED SPACES Guests have direct access to Casa LunaLoma’s shared colonial courtyard, centered around a traditional fountain surrounded by hanging ferns, geraniums, and quiet seating areas. A deep inset window within the courtyard frames panoramic views of Quito’s Historic Center, El Panecillo, and La Virgen de Quito. Guests may also enjoy access to the shared rooftop terrace overlooking the city and surrounding hills. La Loma Grande remains one of the Historic Center’s most authentic residential neighborhoods, offering guests a more immersive and local experience of Quito beyond the traditional tourist zones. As with any historic urban center, we recommend remaining mindful of your surroundings and using trusted taxi or ride services in the evenings. For first-time arrivals, we highly recommend coordinating with one of our trusted drivers, who can welcome you directly at the airport and bring you safely to the house. During your stay, taxi and Uber are generally the easiest ways to move throughout Quito, especially in the evenings. Casa LunaLoma is also conveniently located near public transportation, including buses and a nearby trolley station approximately 800 meters away. Most guests choose not to drive within Quito’s Historic Center due to its narrow colonial streets and busy traffic flow. However, private garage parking within the house may be available for an additional fee upon request. We can also recommend a trusted nearby parking garage if needed. Other things to note ADDITIONAL NOTES CHECK-IN In accordance with local regulations, all guests are kindly required to present a valid passport or identification document upon check-in. LATE CHECK-IN Late check-in is absolutely welcome. Please note that many international flights arriving from the United States land in Quito around midnight or later. If your flight arrives after midnight, your reservation should begin on the previous calendar day to ensure the suite is prepared and available for your arrival. AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION We are happy to recommend trusted private drivers for airport transportation and local travel throughout Quito. Transportation fees are paid directly to the driver. COURTESY LUGGAGE STORAGE For guests traveling throughout Ecuador who wish to use Casa LunaLoma as a home base, we are happy to offer complimentary luggage storage between reservations whenever possible. LAUNDRY In addition to the private washer and dryer located within El Panecillo Suite, guests also have access to a shared washer and dryer available free of charge. CITY SOUNDS While La Loma Grande is quieter than many parts of Quito’s Historic Center, this is still a living residential neighborhood full of everyday local life. From time to time, guests may hear the charming sounds of the city, including local street vendors and neighborhood commerce passing through the area. CLEANING SERVICES For longer stays, additional cleaning services are available upon request for an extra fee. TRAVELING WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY Casa LunaLoma is home to multiple independent boutique suites, making it an ideal option for larger groups traveling together who would like both shared proximity and personal privacy. LONGER STAYS For reservations longer than 15 days, an additional cleaning service fee of US $15 per visit applies. This service includes fresh linens and general suite cleaning.
