Shippon Barn is a beautiful and spacious three bedroomed converted barn in a picturesque village. What was once an old cattle shippon is now a warm and inviting holiday home sleeping 6-8 guests. Nestled in the lovely village of Great Longstone you have 2 great pubs, a local shop and the Monsal trail all within easy walking distance. Dog friendly, we can accept up to 2 dogs, if pre-arranged. We charge an additional £30 per dog for the duration of your stay. The space Shippon Barn is a superb 3 bedroomed holiday home offering a peaceful countryside retreat in the heart of a lovely village in the Peak District. With Bakewell, Chatsworth and the Monsal Trail all on your doorstep (along with miles of countryside walking) you will be spoilt for choice for things to do. It's perfect for family groups, relaxed and low key weekends with your friends and great for avid walkers and cyclers. Shippon Barn offers the following home comforts: - 3 spacious bedrooms 2 of which are king-sized double bedrooms (which can also be set up as twins upon request). The third bedroom is a good-sized bunk bed room so great for kids. There is also a further double sofa bed downstairs which is available for two extra guests at an ADDITIONAL COST of £100. This must be requested at the time of booking. - There is a shared family bathroom with shower over the bath, washbasin and WC, and one the double bedrooms has a lovely ensuite shower room. There is also a downstairs WC. - Downstairs you have a spacious yet inviting living room with original beams and an impressive stone fireplace with a roaring log burner, perfect for the cooler months. Cosy up here with a glass of wine and a good book. Off the main living room is a further cosy snug with an extra sofa (which is also the additional sofa bed) and views of the garden and beyond. -The farmhouse style kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and grill, gas hob, fridge/freezer and ample worktop space for cooking up hearty breakfasts or dinners. There is a farmhouse table in here with informal for 4-6 people and then through into the main dining room is a lovely table with seating for up to 8 guests, the perfect place for a celebratory meal. - Outside you have a lovely patio area with outdoor seating and BBQ available April - October. Beyond the patio is a lovely garden area with fields beyond. Guest access Guest have access to the whole property and there is free off-street parking for 2/3 cars. The village of Great Longstone is a real gem, you have farm fresh eggs and milk which can pick up from the farm opposite the cottage. The super little shop Sally B's has a good selection of groceries, and local produce. 2 great village pubs - both within walking distance and both serving good food and a warm welcome. You are also within walking distance to the popular Thornbridge Hall, the Monsal Trail and the village of Ashford in the Water. Or head the other direction to Little Longstone where you will find The Packhorse one of the cosiest pubs in the UK (as voted by TripAdvisor and we agree!) Other things to note You Should Know If you wish to add on the additional sofa bed to accommodate 8 guests please request this at the time of booking. There is an additional charge of £100. The garden is walled and fully enclosed with gate access for parking. Please note that we are dog friendly at this property however there are livestock in the surrounding fields, so dogs must be kept under control at all times. For your information, a maximum of two dogs are allowed on site if pre-arranged - you will be expected to keep them out of the bedrooms and off the soft furnishings. Please ​No fireworks or Chinese lanterns due to nearby livestock Noise Policy - due to the quiet village location, late night noise must be confined to inside the building by 10pm. Neighbours are in close proximity - not suitable for rowdy groups due to residential area. Wifi – we provide free wifi however as the Peak District is in a beautiful rural location sometimes there can be intermittent wifi signal that is beyond our control, we also hope you appreciate that we cannot guarantee wifi if there are technical issues out of our control. Please let us know how you would like your beds made up. Some beds can be arranged as twins (details in the listing description) but only if requested at least 7 days in advance. If we do not receive any bedroom requests all beds will automatically be set up as doubles where applicable. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with late requests, especially upon check-in. If the booking is made within a 7 day period of your arrival date, all beds will automatically be set up as doubles. Please bring your own cot bed linen as this is not provided
