The Cottage, 41, The Dene, Lockeridge
Description
Charming 1660's Cottage. The space This beautiful cottage is a listed building which retains many of its original features. It is set in the Lockeridge Dene (a dry valley), and is surrounded by fields full of Sarcen stone, some of which were taken to make Avebury Stone Circle just 3 miles away. The Avebury UNESCO World Heritage Site includes West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill which are some of the world's best examples of Neolithic building. Stonehenge is about 25 miles away and an easy drive. There is a bluebell woods just up the hill which is amazing in late spring, but beautiful anytime of the year. We are on the North Wessex Downs so it is great walking country. There is the National Cycle Route 45 a mile away, as well as good off road cycling. If you're not feeling energetic the cottage is very cosy and a great place to sleep, relax and rejuvenate. Marlborough is our nearest town about 3.5 miles away. It is a market town with a Waitrose and Tesco supermarket as well as great shops and restaurants including Rick Stein's Fish Restaurant. Marlborough hosts a music festivals in late July. There is also the Marlborough Summer School in July and August with a vast array of courses and Children's Activities. Guest access The whole house with your own front door. The 2 cottages are adjoining, I live next door. Other things to note I have 2 quite a large dog, but they are very friendly. Please keep the gate closed at all times or they will escape. For this reason and because I ride horses a lot, the house is not suitable for people with severe dog or horse allergies. Also if you are allergic to feathers, please let me know and I can provide non feather bedding.
