Guest access Travelers can access the entire “Maison Tennis” and the “Maison des Fontainettes” including its garden and the clay tennis court. Other things to note The tennis court is redone every year at the end of April and can be used from the end of April to the end of October and beginning of November. In fact it is usable as long as it has not frozen. The frost causes the clay to swell, making it impossible to play because the balls no longer bounce. The first rule is to use shoes made for clay courts, the sole must be flat with “W” shaped patterns also called herringbone or slatted. Their main characteristic is that they allow better grip on clay, a less stable surface. Any other type of shoe is strictly prohibited. You can destroy a clay court in just a few minutes with running shoes and rebuilding it costs several thousand euros. The 2nd rule is to never play on a dry pitch, it must be wet. If during the game you notice that the court has dried out, stop the game, pass the net over the court, clean the lines and water the court. The 3rd rule is to water the court abundantly in the evening if the court is dry for the next day's game The 4th rule is to protect the Tennis court from storms, in fact too violent rain for a short time can damage the court. it is therefore advisable to cover the court when storms are forecast or when they arrive during play. The tarpaulins that we used and which come from Roland Garros also allow us to protect the court from excessive rain and cold between October and December and thus allow us to keep the court in playing condition until mid-November and sometimes even until 'in mid-December. The short is then unavailable until April. Depending on the weather, it is also necessary to cover the pitch in order to avoid too much rain and thus be able to play without delay after a storm for example.
