Description
A beautiful private space all to yourself, the Oak Barn has great character & enjoys lovely views over fields to the Chilterns beyond. You have your own entrance & key so can come & go as you please. The hamlet of Preston Crowmarsh lies on the river Thames & is a great place to wild swim & watch red kites. A 5 minute walk takes you to the Thames towpath & an 8 minute walk to the bus stop for Oxford and Reading. We leave you to enjoy your privacy but are next door in the main house if needed. The space The Oak Barn has underfloor heating so is toasty warm and cosy in the winter. Big windows open onto the fields beyond so sunlight streams in too. The space is accessed up a wooden staircase with handrail and has a cupboard at the top for your coats and wellies/walking boots. Inside you'll find a king size bed, a desk in the window with gorgeous views over the fields, a comfy sofa to watch the TV, a radio and cd player, a bookshelf full of books and a basket full of cards and games. We have very reliable WiFi connection and good mobile phone reception. We supply towels, soap and shampoo in the en-suite shower room which also has underfloor heating. Whilst there is no kitchen in the Oak Barn, there is a fridge with a small icebox, a kettle, cutlery, glasses and crockery. I start you off with coffee, tea, a pint of milk, sugar and biscuits plus pastries for your first breakfast. You can use our washing machine and dryer (or better still the washing line!), and our iron, please just ask. You can watch the occasional helicopters coming and going at nearby RAF Benson and sometimes even the Red Arrows, you shouldn't find the noise intrusive and they rarely fly after midnight. Guest access The space in the Barn is all yours. Other things to note Self check-in - I will leave you a key. As this is an oak frame barn there are places with restricted headroom which you can see in the photos, please mind your head! In the winter when the heating is on the Barn can become quite ‘chatty’ as one delighted guest described it! There are occasional creaks you might hear as the wood heats and cools but nothing that would disturb a good nights rest.
